LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Florida State volleyball team (13-11, 7-8) fell to No. 7 Louisville (21-4, 13-2) in four sets (20-25, 25-19, 19-25, 19-25) on Thursday night in Louisville.
The Seminoles got off to a great start in set one thanks to back-to-back aces from Kyleene Filimaua as the Noles took an early 4-0 lead. The Noles continued to play well in the first half of the set as they held a 15-12 lead at the media timeout. The Cardinals took the lead thanks to a 5-1 run, but the Noles traded points with the Cardinals to tie the match at 19. Louisville was able to pull away scoring six out of the next seven points to take the set.
The Noles once again got off to a 4-0 start in set two. The teams traded points in a back-and-forth affair, but it was the Noles this time who pulled away late with a 6-1 run to tie the match.
The Noles ran into a brick wall in sets three and four as they were unable to figure out Louisville's block as they ran away with sets three and four, both by a score of 25-19 to take the match.
Filimaua continued her strong play with her sixth 20-kill match of the season to lead all scorers. Iane Henke added 11 kills while Payton Whalen tallied seven kills. Filimaua was also one of two Seminoles to record a double double as she recorded 11 digs while Lily Nicholson tallied 21 assists and a career-high 17 digs.
