Watkins Scores 19 In 77-76 Loss At Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – A 3-point field goal by Chas Kelley III with four seconds remaining to be played lifted Boston College to a 77-76 win over Florida State at the Conte Forum. The Eagles outscored the Seminoles by six points in the second half and took their only lead of the second half on Kelley's game-winning basket. A straight line drive to the basket by Florida State's Daquan Davis was blocked at the rim by Kelley to seal the victory for Boston College.
Florida State is now 13-9 overall and 4-7 in ACC play. The Eagles are now 10-11 overall and 2-8 in ACC play.
Three Seminoles found themselves in double-figure scoring with Jamir Watkins totaling 19 points, Malique Ewin scored 18 points, and AJ Swinton scored his career-high of 10 points.
The Seminoles had momentum in the first half as they earned a 7-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 21-16 with 11:41 remaining before the intermission. Florida State led by as many as eight in the first half (29-21) with 8:20 left to play in the first half.
Watkins' 10 first half points allowed the Seminoles to hold a 41-36 lead at the half.
Florida State extended its leads to 15 with 12:40 left to play in the second half.
Swinton scored his career-high of career high with 10 points as he made two made three-point shots and pulled down four rebounds in 18 minutes of playing time off of the bench.
Ewin had an explosive second half as he totaled 14 points as compared to his four in the first half. He was the second-leading scorer for the Seminoles and was a perfect eight for eight from the line. He was one rebound shy from having his eighth double-double game with nine rebounds.
The Eagles were led by starting guard Donald Hand Jr. with 31 points, a career-high. Hand and Fred Payne (14 points) were the Eagles' tow players in double-figure scoring.
