TALLAHASSEEÂ -Â The No. 65 Florida State women's tennis team will host two conference matches at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center, beginning Friday at 4:00 p.m. against No. 17 California and concluding the weekend hosting No. 28 Stanford on Sunday at noon.Â
FSU will host Cal for the first time since 1997, the two teams' only prior matchup. Stanford will be making its first trip to Speicher this weekend, having played Florida State only once back in 2023 at the ITA Kickoff Championships in Palo Alto, California.
Florida State enters the weekend coming off its best week of the season. The Seminoles earned two ranked victories, defeating No. 50 Miami and No. 62 SMU, rallying from behind to win both matches.Â
No. 89-ranked Eva Shaw and Maria Juliana Parra Romero continue to lead the Noles on doubles Court 1. The duo recently earned their highest-ranked win of the season, defeating Miami's No. 25-ranked pair 6-2. Laura Putz was a key factor in each of last week's victories. The sophomore finished the week 4-0 with two wins in both doubles and singles, including a three-set win at No. 6 singles for the match-clinching point in FSU's 4-3 victory at SMU.
Friday's match versus Cal will be a "Paint it Pink" match promotion featuring concessions and a face-painting booth. Sunday's match against Stanford is USTA League Day, celebrating all local USTA League Captains in the area. Admission is free to all Florida State home tennis matches.Â
Live stats for both matches will be available on Seminoles.com.Â
