CARY, N.C.  –  The No. 17 Florida State men's tennis concluded its run in the ACC Championship following a 4-3 defeat to No. 8 Stanford in the quarterfinal round.

Following Stanford's opening point in doubles play, the Seminoles responded with a fiery start to singles play. FSU won four of the six opening sets to fight back in the match.

Corey Craig had suffered his first loss in the last seven matches the previous night and was tasked with No. 9 Samir Banerjee on Court 1. Craig responded to the setback by winning his final three games to slam the first set shut 6-2 before stringing together another three-game winning stretch to seal the victory. Craig recorded his second top-10 win of the season and 10th singles victory this spring.

Stanford reestablished its lead after a straight-sets win on Court 4 before Florida State answered. Joshua Dous-Karpenschif traded games with his opponent at 4-4 in the first frame before earning a service break and serving out the set 6-4. Dous-Karpenschif found his form and won four consecutive games to give himself the cushion to cruise away to a straight-set win. The senior extended his singles play unbeaten streak to six.

Seconds later, Jamie Connel finished his second-set tiebreaker at 7-4 following a dominant first frame to give the Seminoles their first lead of the night. Connel defeated his 10th ACC opponent this spring in singles and tallied onto his team-leading 24 singles wins.

Stanford served out the remaining two matches in three sets to conclude the battle.

The Florida State men's tennis team will enter the postseason with an 18-8 record and look ahead to the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Selection Show on Monday, April 28.
