MACON, Ga. – Florida State senior Kaylah Williams carded a 4 over par 76 and is in a tie for 14th place in the individual standings after the first round of the Brickyard Collegiate at the Brickyard Golf Course. Williams is joined in the field by freshmen teammates Alexandra Gazzoli (77, tied for 23rd) and Layla Pedrique (84, tied for 58th) as the Seminoles are playing with three individuals in the tournament.

The tournament was originally scheduled to be a 54-hole tournament, with 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes to be played on Tuesday. However, with rain in the forecast for Monday, the teams and individuals played 18 holes on Sunday, starting with a shotgun start. A second set of 18 holes will be played on Tuesday beginning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.

Mercer, the host team, holds the team lead after the first round with a 9 over par team total of 297. The Bears lead Seminole State College by seven strokes with one round remaining to be played.

Because of the change in format due to the expected inclement weather, the teams and individuals began the event without playing a normal practice round to learn the course.

Williams quickly learned the course layout and played her best golf over her final 14 holes of the round with two birdies and a 1 under par total to close her afternoon.

Gazzoli carded two birdies on the day and finished with a score of 77, while Pedrique also carded two birdies and nine holes scored at par or better.

No. 4 Florida State gets back into team action as it plays in the ACC Championship (April 16-19) at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Senior All-American Lottie Woad closed out a fabulous week of play as she finished in third place at the Augusta National Women's Amateur to earn her second top-three finish in the event.
