No. 14 Florida State Scores 77 In Victory Over East Texas A&M

9/6/2025 4:27:00 PM | Football

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 14 Florida State football team defeated East Texas A&M 77-3 on Saturday afternoon at Doak Campbell Stadium.

The Seminoles (2-0) scored a touchdown on their first 10 drives, a first in program history. Florida State scored 77 points for the first time since defeating Delaware State 77-6 in 2017. FSU also tied the program record for its largest margin of victory at 74 points and tied the school record for touchdowns scored in a game with 11.

The Seminoles' 416 yards of offense in the first half is the highest first-half total by any team nationally this season. Florida State ended the game with 729 total yards, its most since totaling 771 against Clemson in 2000.

Wide receiver Duce Robinson set single-game career-highs with five receptions, 173 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. His 160 receiving yards in the first quarter broke an FSU record.

Running back Gavin Sawchuk found the end zone three times in the first half, totaling 88 yards of offense. Sawchuk finished with two rushing touchdowns, with his final touchdown coming through the air. Samuel Singleton Jr. led the Seminoles on the ground, carrying the ball four times for 82 yards and one touchdown. The last time FSU had 230 or more rushing yards and four or more rushing touchdowns in consecutive games was in 2013, against Nevada (377 yards and six touchdowns) and Bethune-Cookman (266 yards and four touchdowns).

Quarterback Tommy Castellanos completed eight of 11 passes for 237 yards and three touchdowns. Castellanos surpassed 4,000 career passing yards after a 19-yard completion to Robinson late in the first quarter and now has 4,078 passing yards for his career.

The Seminole defense posted nine tackles-for-loss, three sacks, and two interceptions. Florida State has recorded at least 5.0 TFL in 13 consecutive games, the longest streak since a school-record 42-game stretch from Nov. 8, 2003, to Nov. 25, 2006. Tony White defenses have not allowed a rushing touchdown in nine consecutive home games. White-led defenses have held opponents to 20 or fewer points 17 times over the past 26 games.

The Florida State defense forced a quick punt to begin the game. The Seminoles capitalized and drove 78 yards on 12 plays, capped off on a 1-yard Sawchuk rush. Florida State found the end zone four minutes later, on a one-play 82-yard touchdown pass from Castellanos to Robinson. The pair connected again for a 42-yard touchdown to put Florida State up 21-0 to end the first quarter.

Defensive back Earl Little Jr. recorded his first career interception and returned it 48 yards to set up Florida State's fourth touchdown of the day, with Sawchuk finding the end zone on a 1-yard rush. The Seminole defense forced another three-and-out, and four plays later, Castellanos connected with Sawchuk for a 53-yard touchdown.

The next Lions possession resulted in an interception by Jerry Wilson, his first as a Seminole. Again, the Seminoles needed only four plays to find the end zone, scoring on a 53-yard rush by Micahi Danzy.

On the next Seminole drive, Kevin Sperry connected with Jayvan Boggs, each earning their first career touchdown, to extend the Seminole lead to 49-0 at halftime and conclude a 28-point second quarter for FSU.

The second half featured four more Seminole touchdowns. Brock Glenn connected with Amaree Williams for a 35-yard touchdown pass to begin the third quarter. After a couple of East Texas A&M punts, Ousmane Kromah found the end zone for his first career touchdown, catching a short pass from Glenn and taking it 43 yards for the score. Another Lions punt led to Singleton Jr. finding the end zone, scoring on a 53-yard rush to put FSU up 70-0 at the end of the third.

The Lions scored their only points of the game early in the fourth quarter, capitalizing on FSU's only turnover of the game.

The Seminoles scored their 11th and final touchdown of the afternoon with a 13-yard rush by Zay Parks, his first as a Seminole.

Florida State has scored in all eight quarters this season, and in 10 straight dating back to last season.

Florida State will enter its first bye week of the 2025 season before returning to Doak Campbell Stadium to host Kent State on Saturday, Sept. 20th. Game time is still to be determined.
