TALLAHASSEE - The Florida State women's basketball team opens the 2026-27 season on Monday night at 6 p.m. against Merrimack in the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.

Monday night's matchup will be the first-ever meeting between the Seminoles and Warriors in either team's program history. Florida State and Merrimack have never met in any sport.

The game will air on the ACC Network Extra with John Christovich and Melissa Bruner. Fans can also listen to the radio broadcast with Scott Kornberg on 96.5 FM, on the Seminoles Game Day App and on Seminoles.com.

Live stats can also be found on Seminoles.com.

Florida State features six transfer additions ahead of the 2026-27 season in fifth year guard Timaya Lewis Eutsey (Marshall/VCU), fifth year forward Ice Brady (UConn), fifth year forward Savannah Henderson (Georgia), senior forward Aga Makurat (Vanderbilt), sophomore guard Jasmine Nivar (Campbell) and sophomore forward Joy Egbuna (Alabama). The Seminoles also added five freshmen to their roster in Morgan Stewart, Missy Odom, Asia Lee, Kennedy Loux and Chamiah Francis. Francis and Brady are not expected to play in 2026-27 as they recover from previous injury.

Five return to Florida State for the upcoming season, including senior guard Solè Williams, senior forward Avery Treadwell, senior guard Emma Risch, junior guard Tatum Greene and sophomore guard Mari Gerton.

Williams enters another season with the Seminoles after serving as the team's lead point scorer in the 2025-26 season, averaging 15.1 points per game across 29 games played. Williams had her best season yet with Florida State last year, also averaging 3.8 rebounds per game and three assists per game as well as elevated field goal and free throw shooting percentages.

Florida State completed preseason play on Oct. 22 against Palm Beach Atlantic, earning a 106-40 victory. Five different Seminoles finished in double figures, with Odom leading the effort with 19 points as well as seven rebounds and seven steals.

Lewis-Eutsey and Makurat each recorded 16 points, with Makurat contributing a team-leading three three-pointers.

Florida State shot 59.1 percent from the floor (39-for-66) and 80 percent from the free throw line, accounting for 20 points. As a defensive unit, Florida State forced 32 turnovers from Palm Beach Atlantic to create 48 points, and outrebounded the Sailfish 44-23.

The Seminoles also picked up a 72-44 win over Tampa on October 18. Nivar led the team offensively with 14 points, while Risch and Williams as well as Greene each finished with eight points, with Risch providing two of FSU's five buckets from beyond the arc.

A point of emphasis for the season ahead, the Seminoles provided defensive firepower. Off the glass, Florida State outrebounded Tampa 43-19 and forced 17 turnovers, generating 19 points. The Seminoles also earned 11 steals, spearheaded by Lewis-Eutsey, who recorded five takeaways. Odom led the Noles off the boards with nine rebounds – eight defensive.

Merrimack concluded the 2025-26 season with a record of 19-13 with a 15-5 mark in MAAC play, falling in the MAAC tournament to eventual conference champion Fairfield. The Warriors return two players from last year's squad in sophomore guard Joi Williams and senior guard Kristen Kelley. The program also signed 12 newcomers, making up a roster consisting of six international players. Merrimack is led by first year head coach Missy Traversi, who comes from a four-year tenure at Army West Point.
