Jazzy Francik Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE - Sophomore pitcher Jazzy Francik picked up her second career ACC Pitcher of the Week award on Tuesday afternoon after stringing together three separate stellar performances at the JoAnne Graf Classic last week.Â
You can't start a season much better than Francik did last Thursday night as the sophomore shut down Samford and threw the program's 120th no-hitter. Francik pitched seven innings, did not allow a hit and struck out seven batters to become just the second Seminole to throw a no-hitter on opening day. Francik joined Julie Larsen who accomplished that feat in 1986.Â
Francik did not stop there as the sophomore got the start again on Saturday against Marshall. Francik threw five scoreless innings and allowed just three hits while striking out eight to earn her second victory of the weekend. Franick had one final appearance on Sunday against UConn as she came on in the seventh inning and struck out two of the three batters she faced and did not allow a hit.Â
In total, Francik threw 13 scoreless innings, allowed just three hits and struck out 17 batters compared to just three walks. Francik did not allow an extra-base hit all weekend.Â
