Softball Adds Kaiyah Ratu to Roster

TALLAHASSEE - Head Coach Lonni Alameda announced the signing of catcher/infielder Kaiyah Ratu on Wednesday morning.

Ratu comes to Tallahassee from Temple College in Temple, Texas. She hit .381 with 19 home runs and 61 RBI on 54 games for the Leopards. Ratu slugged .856 with a .454 on-base percentage. She walked 21 times compared to just 10 strikeouts. Ratu also had 12 doubles and three triples. Behind the plate, Ratu allowed just one passed ball and had one error all season.

Ratu comes from Christchurch, New Zealand, where she was the Canterbury, New Zealand Player of the Year,.Her dad, Stephen Ratu, played professional softball with FSU assistant coach Travis Wilson. Ratu also was a three-time state champion in field hockey in New Zealand.
