TALLAHASSEE - Florida State softball's Isa Torres was named the ACC Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Tuesday afternoon after a stellar performance this past week.
After missing eight games due to injury, it took no time for Torres to get back to her usual self and put together one of the best performances in college softball history over the course of the week. Torres went 15-for-18 (.833) in four games and led the team with eight RBI. In Friday's game against Coastal Carolina, Torres set a new school record for hits in a game as she went 6-for-6 against the Chanticleers. Torres became the first Division I player since 2017 to record six hits in a seven-inning game and was just the third FSU player to ever record five or more hits in a game. Torres had a stretch between Friday's ad Saturday's games where she recorded a hit in eight consecutive plate appearances which is the longest streak in FSU history since at least 2011.Â
On the season, Torres is hitting a staggering .597 which is tied for the highest batting average in the country. Torres holds a .638 on base percentage and a .903 slugging percentage. Torres has also been rock solid at shortstop as the junior has not recorded an error this season in 56 chances.Â
The Noles will be in action on Wednesday night against South Alabama at JoAnne Graf Field. First pitch is set for 8 p.m. on ACC Network.Â
