Men’s Tennis Defeats No. 55 Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – The Florida State men's tennis team (9-9, 1-5 ACC) won its first conference match of the season with a 4-1 defeat of No. 55 Georgia Tech (9-7, 1-6 ACC) on Sunday at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
Florida State won the doubles point to open the day with a 1-0 lead. Court two pairing of Oren Ezerzer and Gabor Hornung broke their opponents' service game twice to go-ahead 4-2 before serving out a 6-3 victory. Ezerzer and Hornung earned their first ACC win and third overall victory of the season as a pair.
Justin Lyons and Mohammad Alkotop then clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 triumph over Gianluca Carlini and Elias Shorky, marking the duo's third ACC win of the season.
Florida State took a 2-0 lead in the match after Lyons defeated Richard Biagiotti at court six by a 6-1, 6-4 score. No. 76 Erik Schiessl finished next, expanding the Seminoles' lead to 3-0 after winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
The remaining three matches were locked in battles, all played in third sets. The Yellow Jackets were able to get on the board at court three after Carlini beat Alkotop 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Florida State would clinch the three-set victory match after Corey Craig won against Christophe Clement at court one by a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 score.
Next up, Florida State will head north for a doubleheader on Thursday against Boston College at noon and a non-conference match versus Holy Cross at 6:00 p.m.
