3/18/2026 6:41:00 PM | Women's Swimming and Diving
ATLANTA – The Florida State swimming and diving team opened the 2026 Division I NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships with the 200 medley relay on Wednesday morning at McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
FSU finished tied for 17th overall with a time of 1:36.31. Sophomore Alice Velden, senior Julia Mansson and sophomores Maryn McDade and Mary Leigh Hardman combined for the fifth-fastest time in program history. With the result, the Seminoles secured All-America honors, awarded to the top 16 finishers.
"We had a great relay today," FSU head coach Neal Studd said. "It was a good first event for us."
Hardman made her NCAA Championships debut in the 200 medley relay and is slated to compete in the 200 freestyle relay alongside Velden and McDade. The swim marked the final NCAA race of Mansson's collegiate career.
Florida State is represented by seven student-athletes at the 2026 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships from March 18-21. Competition will continue Thursday, with swimming prelims at 10 a.m. ET. Redshirt senior Kayleigh Clark will compete in her first event of the week, the 1-meter springboard, with prelims beginning at 12:30 p.m. McDade, Velden, senior Sarah Evans and Hardman will swim the 200 freestyle relay to round out the Seminoles' relays for the week.
The top eight finishers in every event will advance to the finals and determine places 1-8. Athletes who finish 9-16 will not compete in a B final; their final placement and point totals will be determined based on their finish in prelims. Relays are timed finals, with two relays competed in prelims and the last in the evening finals. Diving prelims begin at 12:30 p.m. ET each day, with the top eight finishers advancing to finals.
All sessions will be streamed live on ESPN+. Live results can be found at Meet Mobile and online here, and additional championships info is available here. Direct links and live updates can be found by following and connecting with the Seminoles on Twitter/X, Instagram and Facebook.
