No. 5 Beach Volleyball Returns to NCAA Championships

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The No. 5 Florida State beach volleyball team (33-2) will face No. 12 Stetson (27-9) in the opening round of the NCAA Championship Friday at 11 a.m. ET in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Led by Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig, the Seminoles have played in all 10 NCAA Tournaments since the sport became an official NCAA event in 2016.
Head coach Brooke Niles, the winningest coach in NCAA beach volleyball history, has led Florida State to three runner-up finishes in Gulf Shores, most recently in 2022.
The Noles enter the tournament as the Big 12 Champions after an undefeated weekend in Tucson, Arizona. FSU has won 10 consecutive matches entering the NCAA Tournament and at 33-2 overall have the second-best regular-season record in program history, behind Niles' first season when the Seminoles were 29-1 entering NCAAs. The 33 wins tie the 2018, 2021 and 2022 seasons for the most in school history.
At the Big 12 championships, FSU beat defending national champion TCU, 3-0, to claim the Big 12 title in its first season in the conference. Durish and Koenig were named Most Outstanding Pair of the tournament and Gella Andrew and Maddie Trusty also earned All-Tournament honors.
Friday marks the 23rd meeting between FSU and Stetson, a team the Seminoles have defeated in every matchup since 2012. Earlier this season, Florida State won 4-1 on the Hatters home turf. Stetson reached the tournament after claiming the ASUN's automatic bid.
All NCAA Tournament matches prior to the championship will be streamed on ESPN2. The winner between Florida State and Stetson will face the winner of No. 4 Southern California and No. 13 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Sunday's championship match will air on ESPN at 12:30 p.m. ET.
