One of three teams in the country to host a regional each of the last three years, FSU is 38-17 on the season, 27-4 at home, 10-9 on the road, 1-4 at a neutral site and 7-7 against ranked opponents. Finishing third in the ACC, the team was 19-11 with eight series wins, both the team's best totals since 2014 outside of the extended 2021 season. The Seminoles' eight ACC series wins included three sweeps, while four of the 10 series came against top-12 nationally-ranked opponents, three of them on the road.

For a second year in a row, Florida State is one of three ACC teams selected to host a regional and one of nine to be selected to the 64-team field. Two of the three teams to host a regional in 2024, 2025 and 2026 are from the ACC, as North Carolina joins the Seminoles in meeting that mark.

As a team, FSU is hitting .282 with 519 hits, 72 home runs, 105 doubles, 10 triples, 264 walks, 395 runs scored and 351 RBI. The pitching staff has a 4.05 ERA with 211 earned runs allowed on 394 hits with 580 strikeouts and 203 walks in 469.1 innings.

Redshirt sophomore right fielder Brody DeLamielleure has a team-best and career-long 18-game hit streak and is hitting .344. Freshman outfielder John Stuetzer has 51 hits and junior center fielder Brayden Dowd has hit 10 home runs with 12 doubles. Junior left fielder Chase Williams has 17 stolen bases in 22 attempts. On the mound, junior lefty Wes Mendes, the ACC Pitcher of the Year, is 9-3 with a 2.83 ERA, having struck out 117 and allowed 28 earned runs on 68 hits in 89.0 innings. Junior right-hander John Abraham has made 17 appearances, all but one out of the bullpen, and has 55 strikeouts and a 1.04 ERA in 43.1 innings.

FLORIDA STATE'S NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
Florida State is making its 62nd postseason appearance and is hosting a regional for the 38th time. Since their first NCAA berth in 1956, the program's eighth year, the Seminoles own a 211-136 all-time NCAA record, including 158-63 in the regional round, 21-25 in Super Regionals and 32-48 in the College World Series.

FSU leads the country with 38 regionals hosted and 19 Super Regionals, as the team is one of three teams to be hosting a regional for the third consecutive year in 2026 and one of five to have advanced to the Super Regional in both 2024 and 2025. Florida State is second in the nation with 211 all-time NCAA wins and 62 postseason appearances (behind Texas' 259 wins and 65 appearances) and third with 24 CWS berths.

The Seminoles have swept back-to-back regionals, in 2024 and 2025 both at Howser, and have won eight consecutive home games in the postseason. Around the 3-0 regional sweeps the last two years was a 2-0 Super Regional vs. UConn in 2024. As the No. 7 seed in 2024, FSU posted a 7-2 win over Stetson before 5-2 and 12-4 victories against UCF. 24-4 and 10-8 (12 inn.) wins in the Super Regional vs. UConn sent Florida State to the College World Series. In 2025, a 6-2 win over Bethune-Cookman opened the tournament for No. 9-seeded Florida State. Back-to-back wins vs. Mississippi State, 10-3 and 5-2, sealed the team's Super Regional berth. Mendes struck out nine and gave up two runs in a then-career-best 8.0 innings in the regional-clinching finale vs. MSU.

NATIONALLY RANKED SEMINOLES
Along with its No. 10 national seed, Florida State is ranked nationally in the top-15 in each major poll this week, including at No. 12 by D1Baseball. FSU is No. 9 in the Coaches Poll, No. 14 in the NCBWA rankings and No. 15 by Perfect Game.

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
Second-seeded Coastal Carolina will make its 22nd NCAA appearance after finishing the 2025 season as the national runners-up. With a 37-21 record, the Chanticleers were second in the Sun Belt Conference. Coastal's first NCAA berth was in 1991 at Howser.

Florida State is 13-1 all-time against Coastal Carolina, all in Tallahassee, including 1-0 in the postseason. A 6-0 win in the 1991 NCAA Regional begin the series, and FSU won two the next year, three in 1994, two in 1995 and three in 1996. A 19 year hiatus followed before the Seminoles took two-of-three in 2015, which also was the last time the clubs met. A 4-2 loss in the finale snapped a 13-game win streak for Florida State and concluded the three-game series from May 1-3.

SCOUTING NORTHERN ILLINOIS
In the NCAA Championship for the second time in program history and first since 1972, NIU won its first MAC tournament title this season. The Huskies posted a school-record 35 wins in 2026 and are 35-17 following a 4-0 conference tournament run.

The Seminoles won the only meeting against the Huskies before this weekend, a 7-1 victory in Tallahassee on April 8, 1971. Bowling Green was the last MAC squad to play the Seminoles, a 3-0 weekend for FSU in 2016 at Howser.

SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
St. John's earned its 39th NCAA berth, tied for 12th all-time, after winning its conference-leading 11th Big East Tournament title. The Red Storm are 33-24 on the year and are in an NCAA Regional for the second time in the last three years. With six World Series appearances, SJU has won at least one game in nine of its last 10 NCAA berths.

FSU is 2-1 vs. St. John's, with the only previous meeting a three-game series from March 4-6, 2016. The Seminoles posted 16-4 and 9-2 wins to win the series before a 5-1 defeat in the finale.

LAST TIME OUT: ACC CHAMPIONSHIP
No. 3-seed Florida State suffered an 8-6 loss to No. 14-seed Pitt in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 ACC Championship on May 22 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Seminoles trailed 4-0 in the first inning, but got a run back in the bottom of the first and answered a one-run top of the fifth to tie the game at 5-5 with a grand slam by senior first baseman Ben Barrett in the bottom of that inning. FSU took a 6-5 lead in the eighth, but the Panthers regained the lead with a ninth-inning home run. Barrett led the Seminoles' offensive effort with two hits and four RBI while contributing to five of FSU's six runs. The grand slam and four RBI were both his first since the 2023 season after being solely a pitcher in 2024, 2025 and almost the first three months of the 2026 campaign. On a rainy and cool evening at Truist Field where the game was delayed two hours before first pitch, Pitt won its third consecutive game at this year's ACC Championship to advance to the semifinal.

A recap and box score from the series can be found here.

UP NEXT: NCAA SUPER REGIONAL
The winner of the Tallahassee Regional will advance to the NCAA Super Regional against the winner of the Tuscaloosa Regional, hosted by seventh-seeded Alabama and beginning on June 5 or 6. The winner of that best-of-three Super Regional will advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
