TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women's tennis team opens its 2026 fall season at the ITA All-American Championships at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina. Pre-qualifying begins Saturday and runs through Sunday, followed by qualifying rounds Monday and Tuesday. The main draw begins Wednesday and runs through Sunday, Sept. 27.

Florida State will be represented by junior Mary Boyce Deatherage and freshman JoAnna Kennedy.

Deatherage enters the tournament after a 5-0 performance at the UTR Pro Fall Slam Tallahassee, where she claimed the title and earned a spot in the Fall Championships in Miami, Nov. 30-Dec. 6.

This will be Deatherage's second appearance at the ITA All-American Championships after finishing 1-1 at last year's tournament.

Kennedy will make her Seminole debut at the event. The Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, native enters her collegiate career ranked in three ITA preseason rankings. She is ranked No. 8 among newcomers, No. 53 in doubles with partner Millie Bissett and No. 94 in singles.

Kennedy had a standout junior career, earning a Top 500 ITF junior ranking and recognition as one of the nation's top recruits. She reached as high as No. 3 in the USTA Girls' 18 national rankings and No. 2 in the Girls' 16 rankings. She was also ranked No. 6 in the TennisRecruiting.net Class of 2026 rankings.

The ITA All-American Championships also serve as a qualifier for the NCAA Singles Championship. Ten singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship, with eight spots going to the main-draw quarterfinalists and two to the feed-in consolation finalists.

Deatherage will begin singles play Saturday in the pre-qualifying draw, while Kennedy will begin singles play Monday in qualifying. The duo will also begin doubles play in the pre-qualifying draw on Saturday.
