FSU Falls in High-Scoring Battle at No. 10 Alabama

Senior wide receiver Duce Robinson turned in a season-best performance with six catches for 135 yards and one touchdown. The 100-yard performance marked the sixth of his career, tying him for 14th in program history, while his 135 receiving yards pushed him past 2,000 for his career.
Florida State had four players record at least 50 receiving yards. Junior wide receiver Micahi Danzy totaled three catches for 89 yards, sophomore wide receiver Jayvan Boggs recorded two catches for a career-high 69 yards and senior running back Samuel Singleton Jr. added two receptions for a career-high 68 yards.
Fifth Year quarterback Ashton Daniels completed 17 of 29 passes for 377 yards and accounted for four touchdowns, throwing for two and rushing for two.
Sophomore running back Ousmane Kromah led the Seminoles on the ground with 80 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown.
Junior defensive back CJ Richard Jr. led the Florida State defense with a career-high 12 tackles, while junior linebacker Chris Jones recorded six tackles to surpass 200 for his career.
Florida State opened the game with a strong defensive stand, forcing Alabama into a three-and-out on its opening possession. Daniels then found Robinson for a 15-yard gain on the Seminoles' first offensive play. Five consecutive rushing plays moved FSU into the red zone before Daniels escaped pressure on third-and-nine and connected with Robinson in the back of the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown.
The Seminole defense forced another three-and-out on Alabama's second possession. Following an FSU interception, Alabama got on the board with a 32-yard field goal to cut the lead to 7-3.
Florida State answered quickly, needing just 77 seconds to march 69 yards on three plays. Daniels hit Danzy for a 56-yard gain before Kromah found the end zone on a 12-yard run two plays later to extend the FSU lead to 14-3 at the end of the first quarter.
Alabama added another field goal on its next possession, driving 50 yards on nine plays to make it 14-6.
The Seminoles responded with their third touchdown in their first four possessions. Daniels connected with Robinson for a 15-yard gain before finding Boggs for a career-long 35-yard reception to move FSU into the red zone. Daniels capped the drive himself with a three-yard touchdown run, giving the Seminoles a 21-6 lead midway through the second quarter.
Alabama answered with a 12-play, 75-yard touchdown drive with 2:36 remaining in the first half to cut the deficit to 21-13. The Crimson Tide then capitalized on another FSU turnover for a touchdown but failed to convert the ensuing two-point attempt.
After an FSU punt, Alabama scored again with 22 seconds remaining in the half to take a 26-21 lead into halftime.
Florida State regained the lead on its opening possession of the second half. The Seminoles drove 75 yards on nine plays, highlighted by a career-long 65-yard reception from Singleton that moved FSU to the Alabama two-yard line. On third-and-two, Daniels found junior tight end Landen Thomas for a touchdown, his first of the season, to put the Seminoles back in front 28-26.
Alabama responded with a 75-yard touchdown drive to reclaim the lead at 33-28 before adding another touchdown to take a 40-28 advantage into the fourth quarter.
A 43-yard field goal extended Alabama's lead to 43-28 before Florida State mounted another scoring drive. Daniels connected with Robinson for a 40-yard gain before finding Danzy for 27 yards on the following play. Facing third-and-goal from the Alabama six-yard line, Daniels scored his second rushing touchdown of the night. The Seminoles converted their two-point attempt on another Daniels rushing play, cutting the Alabama lead to 43-36.
The Crimson Tide scored the final points of the game to finish with a 50-36 victory.
Florida State returns to Doak Campbell Stadium next Saturday to host Central Arkansas on ACC Network. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
