TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The sixth-ranked Florida State softball team (36-8-1) goes to Pittsburgh (16-27) this weekend for the final weekend of the regular season. Florida State leads the all-time series against the Panthers, 18-1. The last time the two teams met was in 2018 when the Seminoles and Panthers met four times. FSU took two of three in the regular-season series before defeating Pitt 5-4 in the 2018 ACC Championship game. Anna Shelnutt hit a walk-off three-run home run in that game.
The Seminoles and Panthers are scheduled to play one game Friday, May 7 at 6 pm, a doubleheader on Saturday, May 8 starting at 1 pm and one game on Sunday, May 9 at 12 pm. All four games this weekend will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
Through 45 games this season, the Seminoles have shown their speed recording 98 stolen bases in 110 attempts. Devyn Flaherty leads the Noles with 15 stolen bases.
The Seminole offense has scored 230 runs in the first 45 games of the season. This has come as the Seminoles have put together 93 total extra-base hits, including 34 home runs and 54 doubles to go with five triples. Kalei Harding and Cassidy Davis are leading the way. Harding has nine doubles, three triples and three home runs, while Davis has seven doubles, seven home runs and one triple.
Caylan Arnold and Kathryn Sandercock are leading the Seminole pitching staff. They have combined for 29 wins and 196 strikeouts. Arnold leads Florida State with 114 strikeouts and Sandercock leads the team with a 1.04 ERA and a 20-1 record.
The Florida State pitching staff has combined for a 1.62 ERA good for 10th best in the country.
