No. 9 Softball Host No. 20 Duke in a Top 20 Matchup

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The ninth-ranked Florida State softball team (24-6) hosts No. 20 Duke (27-6) for a four-game series this weekend at JoAnne Graf Field.
FSU Softball is excited to celebrate its 2021 Faculty and Staff Appreciation Weekend this weekend and recognize the many amazing people who work behind the scenes in educating and supporting our student-athletes. TEAM 38 has personally selected a handful of their professors, administrators, and staff members to throw out ceremonial virtual first pitches for our series this weekend against Duke.
The Seminoles and Blue Devils are scheduled to play one game on Friday, April 9 at 6 pm, a doubleheader on Saturday, April 10 starting at 11 am with the second game starting at 2 pm and one game on Sunday, April 11 at 3 pm. Friday’s game is on ESPNU and the second game Saturday is on ESPN2. The series finale is on the ACC Network.
Saturday’s games were rearranged due to the possibility of inclement weather. If the first game on Saturday goes past 1:15 pm it will be halted so that the 2 pm ESPN2 game can start on schedule. If the first game Saturday is halted it will be resumed at 1 pm on Sunday.
FLORIDA STATE VS. DUKE
Florida State and Duke have met only three times, with the Seminoles earning wins in all three meetings of their series in 2019. Florida State earned a run-rule victory in game one, a 3-2 win in game two and an 8-1 win in game three. Florida State had four home runs in game three including one from Elizabeth Mason, Dani Morgan and Cassidy Davis.
Through 30 games this season, the Seminoles have shown their speed recording 63 stolen bases in 70 attempts. Elizabeth Mason and Devyn Flaherty lead the Noles with 11 stolen bases each.
The Seminole offense has scored 152 runs in the first 30 games of the season. This has come as the Seminoles have put together 53 total extra-base hits, including 17 home runs and 32 doubles to go with four triples. Kalei Harding is leading the way with one home run to go with seven doubles and three triples.
Caylan Arnold and Kathryn Sandercock are leading the Seminole pitching staff. They have combined for 20 wins and 133 strikeouts. Arnold leads Florida State with 81 strikeouts and Sandercock leads the team with a 1.45 ERA.
