Tulsa, Okla. – Two members of the Florida State women’s tennis team opened up play at the 2019 ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. at the University of Tulsa’s campus. Representing the Seminoles are junior Emmanuelle Salas and freshman Victoria Allen who battled in both doubles and singles.
As the 38th ranked doubles pair, Salas and Allen topped Missouri’s duo of Ellie Wright and Lisa Fukutoku in the first round of the qualifying doubles draw 8-1. They won their second doubles match of the day as well, this one a little closer. The FSU duo came out on top, winning the tiebreaker 7-4 en route to 8-7(4) win over against Brianna Shvets and Daria Frayman of Princeton.
During singles play, Salas dropped a tough three set match to NC State’s Lexi Keberle 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 and Victoria Allen fell to Carolyn Campana of Wake Forest 6-2, 6-0.
Salas and Allen will be back in action tomorrow in the singles consolation draw starting at 8:30 A.M. The Garnet and Gold turn their attention to doubles play at 3:00 P.M. in hopes of competing in the main draw starting Wednesday.
