Softball Heads to Troy For Midweek Game

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 2-ranked Florida State softball team (27-2) heads to Tory (18-7) on Wednesday, March 23rd for their only midweek game this week. The Seminoles take on the Trojans at 6 PM ET at the Troy Softball Complex. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN+.

This game will be the first of nine straight road games for the Seminoles. Florida State and Troy are meeting for the 44th time on Wednesday, with FSU leading the all-time series 30-12-1. The last time the two teams met was in April of 2019 when the Noles won 4-1.

The Seminole defense has been stellar through the first half of the season as the Noles lead the country in fielding percentage (0.988) and rank fifth nationally in ERA (1.34). The Florida State pitching staff is being led by Kathryn Sandrock who has recorded 14 wins this season to rank fourth in the NCAA.

Through 29 games the Seminole pitching staff of Danielle Watson (9-2), Kathryn Sandercock (14-0), Mack Leonard (2-0), Emma Wilson (1-0) and Brianna Enter (1-0) have combined to go 27-2 with a 1.34 ERA. Watson has 83 strikeouts in 68 innings of work. Sandercock has record 83 strikeouts in 91.2 innings allowing only 11 earned runs.

Combined, the FSU pitchers have 202 strikeouts in 198 innings of work while allowing the opponent to hit just .186.

Following the game against Troy, Florida State heads to FIU this weekend to take on the Panthers in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 26 starting at 1 pm.
