TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 4-ranked Florida State softball team (39-5) opens the week against Stetson (19-25) at home on Tuesday, April 19 at 5 pm on ACCNX.

Florida State heads into the week off a series win over North Carolina in Chapel Hill last week.

The Seminoles are off to their second-best start to a season through 44 games. FSU’s best start through 44 games came in 1992 when the Garnet and Gold started 42-2.

FSU leads the all-time series against Stetson 14-1. Head coach Lonni Alameda has never played the Hatters as the last time the two teams faced off was in 2000 when FSU won 8-2.

Florida State continues to lead the country in fielding percentage (0.983). The FSU defense also ranks in the top-20 in double plays (17th), ERA (12th) and shutouts (4th).

Offensively, Michaela Edenfield ranks 14th in the country in home runs (15) and ninth in RBIs (45). Sydney Sherrill ranks ninth in walks per game (0.86). Kalei Harding’s three home runs against UNC gave her 10 on the season with eight of those coming in ACC play. Her eight home runs in conference play ranks top in the ACC.

Florida State finishes the week with a three-game series against Clemson starting on Thursday at 8 PM. Thursday’s game is a part of ESPN’s Thursday Night Throwdown, showcasing the top softball teams on ESPN2.
