No. 9 Softball Run Rules Santa Clara on Wednesday Night

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The No. 9 Florida State softball team (36-4, 12-0) cruised to its 25th-consecutive win on Wednesday night as it took down Santa Clara (19-19, 4-2), 11-3, in six innings in Santa Clara.Â

There was no jet lag for the Seminoles as they scored seven runs on seven hits in the top of the first inning. Isa Torres led off the game with a single and immediately stole second and moved to third on an error. Jaysoni Beachum drove her home for her 47th RBI of the year to make it 1-0. Marin Heller continued the rally with a single, and Ashtyn Danley doubled to left center to make it 3-0. Â Anna Hinde walked, and Bella Ruggiero singled to load the bases. Makenna Sturgis came through with a two-out double down the left field line, and Torres picked up her second hit of the inning with a triple to make it 7-0 after one.Â

The Broncos took advantage of two uncharacteristic errors from the Noles to put a run across in the third, but the Noles responded in the fourth with a run of its own as Beachum drove one into the left center gap to score Torres.Â

The Noles added three more run in the top of the sixth to put the game in run-rule territory. After a Sturgis walk and a Torres single, Beachum picked up another RBI on a groundout. Ashtyn Danley drove in Torres on her second double of the game to make it 10-1, and Danley eventually scored on a wild pitch to make it 11-1.

Bella Dimitrijevic got the start and went three innings, allowing two hits and one unearned run. Francik earned the win as she retired all six batters she faced. Makenna Reid and Marlee Gaskell came on in the sixth inning closed the door.Â

The Noles will return to action Friday when they face No. 23 Stanford at Stanford Softball Stadium. First pitch is set for 9 p.m. eastern on ESPN2.
