Softball Puts Six on NFCA All-Region Teams

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Six Florida State softball players were name to the NFCA All-Region teams on Thursday afternoon. Kathryn Sandercock picked up first team honors while Jahni Kerr picked up second team honors. Katie Dack, Michaela Edenfield, Devyn Flaherty and Kaley Mudge were all named to the third team. FSU’s six selections were tied for the most in the South Region.

Sandercock joins an exclusive club as she is one of just two Florida State athletes to be named First Team All-Region in three consecutive seasons. She joins Julie Larsen who was named First Team All-Region in 1985, 1986 and 1987. Sandercock was terrific this season for the Seminoles as she hold a 23-3 record with a 1.16 ERA while also adding a school record eight saves. Sandercock was a perfect 14-0 in ACC play and has won 16 consecutive decisions.

Kerr makes her first appearance on an all-region team after leading the Seminoles with a .391 batting average. Kerr tallied eight home runs and brought home 37 runs while leading the team with a .641 slugging percentage. Kerr led the way with 18 multi-hit games for the Seminoles and had a 12-game hit streak from Feb. 19 through Mar. 4.

Edenfield and Mudge each make their second appearance on the all-region team after Mudge was named Second Team All-Region last season and Edenfield was Third-Team All-Region. Edenfield has continually come up in big moments for the Seminoles as she leads the team with 10 home runs and 50 RBI. 22 out of Edenfield’s 31 hits this season have resulted in a run being scored.

Mudge has been very consistent for the Noles this season and is the only Seminole to have two separate 10+ game hitting streaks. Mudge has consistently been the Noles’ leadoff hitter and is hitting .350 with four home runs and 34 RBI.

Making their first appearance on the all-region team is Dack and Flaherty. Dack hit 10 home runs for the Seminoles while driving in 35 runs. Flaherty continually gets on base for the Seminoles and is a problem for teams on the base paths. She leads the ACC with 27 stolen bases this season on 28 attempts. In the batter’s box, Flaherty is .322 with 26 RBI and also leads the team with a .447 on base percentage.

The Seminoles will begin their postseason at home when they take on Marist tomorrow at 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
