WHY I WEAR MY NUMBER
I wear No. 5 at Florida State because I think it looks like a really cool number. It’s the first time in my career I’ve worn the No. 5.
De’Ante Green is the 18th player in school history to wear the number 5. Bernard James, who also wore the No. 5, led the Seminoles to the ACC Championship in 2012 and to the NCAA Tournament in 2011 and 2012. He was an All-Conference Honorable Mention selection, was named to the All-ACC Defensive Team and to the All-ACC Tournament team in 2012.
WHAT'S IN A NAME
My full name is De’Ante Nathaniel Green. My dad’s name is De’Armon and my parents wanted to give me a name that was similar to his. My middle name is a family name that has been passed down through five generations.
MY HOMETOWN
My hometown of Asheville, N.C., is a city in the mountains. Asheville is a tourist town with a lot of activity and attractions. Many successful athletes come from Asheville including Brad Dougherty who played at North Carolina.
