WHY I WEAR MY NUMBER
Honestly, there is no significance to why I wear the number — I just like the way it looks.
Isaac Spainhour is just the fourth player in school history to wear number 40. He joins Larry Warren (1974-76), Randy Allen (1984-87) and Brandon Allen (2014-18) as players who have worn the number as Seminoles. Warren was Florida State’s leading scorer in 1974 and 1975 and is ranked 38th in school history in scoring. Randy Allen was a member of two NIT teams during his career while Brandon was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams including the Seminoles’ 2018 NCAA Elite Eight team.
WHAT'S IN A NAME
My full name is Isaac Mason Shore Spainhour. I actually spent the first two days of my life without a name because my mom wanted to name me Isaac and my dad wanted to name me Mason. As a compromise, my dad agreed to add Shore to my name, which is my mother’s maiden name.
MY HOMETOWN
My hometown of King, N.C. is a close and friendly community which allowed me to create a lot of great memories while growing up.
Appeared in three games during the 2024 season as a Seminole..season debut with 1 rebound and 1 assist in Florida State's 94-67 win over Kennesaw State at the Donald L. Tucker Center (Nov. 10)...totaled 2 points with 1 steal in Florida State's 94-67 win over Central Michigan in the first round of the Sunshine Slam in Tallahassee (Nov. 13)...a starter and played two minutes in Florida State's Senior Day victory over Miami at the Donald L. Tucker Center (March 9).
ON SPAINHOUR
Will long be remembered as one of the building blocks of the Florida State program…was a member of the Seminoles’ program for four years and left his mark on as one of the Seminoles’ all-time locker room leaders…one of the greatest teammates in the history of the program and a phenomenal leader…earned his degree in sport management from Florida State on May 3, 2024…a member of the Seminoles’ famed Green Team…became a member of the Seminoles’ program in the fall of 2020…helped Florida State reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament during the 2021 season...earned playing time in 15 career games…earned playing time for the first time in his career against Penn and earned playing time in an ACC game for the first time against Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium during the 2021-22 season...played in a career-high tying six games in in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons...played in three games and earned the lone start of his career on his Senior Day against Miami as a senior on March 9, 2024…named to the academic Dean’s List at Florida State during the spring of 2021, the fall of 2022 and the spring of 2024...named to the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 ACC Academic Honor Roll...honored academically with his teammates as a member of the 2023 and 2024 NABC Honors Court…a member of the FSU Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in 2024…earned two awards at the Seminoles’ 2021-22 Honors Banquet...named as an Outstanding Academic All-Star and earned a J.U.I.C.E. Award (Just Us In Combat Everyday) as a member of Florida State’s Green Team at the 21-22 team banquet.
AS A SENIOR (2024)
Averaged 0.7 points and 0.3 rebounds as he appeared in three games during the 2024 season as a Seminole...season debut with 1 rebound and 1 assist in Florida State's 94-67 win over Kennesaw State at the Donald L. Tucker Center (Nov. 10)...totaled his season-high 2 points with 1 steal in Florida State's 94-67 win over Central Michigan in the first round of the Sunshine Slam in Tallahassee (Nov. 13)...the Seminoles won three games against Central Michigan, UNLV, and No 18 Connecticut to win the championship of the Sunshine Slam…a starter and played two minutes in Florida State's Senior Day victory over Miami at the Donald L. AS A JUNIOR (2023)
Averaged 0.5 points and 0.0 rebounds in a career-high tying six games played...earned playing time in a career-high six games including a career-high four ACC games...gained playing time in ACC games against Louisville (Dec. 10) and Miami (Jan. 24) at home and against NC State (Feb. 1) and Clemson (Feb. 15) on the road...tied his career-high with 3 points on his third career 3-point shot made in Florida State’s game at Clemson (Feb. 15)...earned his career-high of five minutes of playing time against the Tigers on the road...totaled 2 minutes of playing time in the Seminoles’ first ACC win of the season against Louisville and at home against the Hurricanes.
SUMMER 2022 – CANADIAN EXHIBITION TOUR
Averaged 0.0 points and 0.3 rebounds (3 total rebounds) in three games played during Florida State’s August 2022 tour of Canada…a starter and earned 7 minutes of playing time in the Seminoles’ 86-66 win over Ottawa in the first game of Florida State’s three-game exhibition tour of Canada…attempted 1 shot in the victory…played a total of 7 minutes with 1 rebound and 1 steal in Florida State’s 98-64 win over Carleton in game two of Florida State’s trip to Canada…attempted two shots in the game two victory over Carleton…earned 1 minute of playing time in Florida State’s 90-74 win over McGill University in the final game of Florida State’s three-game tour of Canada…the Seminoles finished 3-0 on the 10-day trip north of the border.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2022)
Averaged 0.8 points, and 0.5 rebounds in a career-high six games…helped Florida State to a 17-14 overall mark and a 10-10 finish in the ACC...totaled 2 points and 1 rebound in his career debut for the Seminoles in Florida State’s 105-70 win over Penn in the 2021-22 season opener at the Donald L. Tucker Center (Nov. 10)…totaled three minutes of playing time in Florida States’ 81-58 win over Missouri in the championship game of the Inaugural Jacksonville Classic...earned his first career steal in the Seminoles’ victory over the Tigers (Nov. 22)...his first career made 3-point shot and totaled a career-high 3 points in Florida State’s 97-60 win over Lipscomb at the Donald L. Tucker Center (Dec. 15)…playing time in an ACC game for the first time at Cameron Indoor Stadium against Duke (Feb. 19)...also earned playing time in the Seminoles’ game at Boston College (Feb. 22)...earned 1 minute of playing time with 1 rebound in Florida State’s game against Syracuse in the second round of the ACC Tournament at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. (March 9).
AS A FRESHMAN (2021)
A redshirt season after helping the Seminoles to an 18-7 overall record and an 11-4 record in ACC play…did not appear in any of the Seminoles’ 25 games but was one of Florida State’s top Green team players who helped Florida State advance to the championship game of the ACC Tournament for the fourth time in school history and to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in his career…practiced with the team on a daily basis and travelled to every game with his teammates…the Seminoles’ Green team has gained national prominence as one of the top rotational squads in all of college basketball…alums of the Green Team include 2021 NBA Draft pick RaiQuan Gray.
AT WEST STOKES
Graduated from West Stokes High School in 2020…the all-time leading scorer in West Stokes history with 1,880 career points…named to the Western Piedmont All-Conference First Team and to the All-Tournament team during each of his four seasons on the varsity…helped West Stokes to an 83-29 record (.741 winning percentage) during his four seasons on the varsity…helped lead the Wildcats into the state championship tournament in each of his four years at West Stokes…the Western Piedmont 2A Player of the Year in 2020 and the Western Piedmont Tournament Most Valuable Player in 2019 and 2020…led the Wildcats to three consecutive Western Piedmont regular season championships and two conference tournament championships…earned All-Region 11 First Team honors as a senior and All-Region Second Team honors as a sophomore and a junior…helped the Wildcats to the fourth round of the NCHSAA 2A State Playoffs and was eliminated by eventual state champion Shelby High in 2020…named to the All-Stokes County Basketball Team in each of his four seasons on the varsity…was selected to the Winston-Salem Journal’s Northwest Team in the state of North Carolina as a sophomore, junior and a senior…led West Stokes to a 25-5 record and helped the Wildcats advance to the fourth round of the state championship tournament before losing to Shelby High School…scored 32 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field (including 13-of-15 from the free throw line) in West Stokes’ victory over Walkertown that gave the Wildcats at least a share of the Piedmont Conference regular season championship in 2020…averaged 18.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per while shooting ,750 from the free throw line and converting 53 three-pointers as a junior…led the Wildcats to a 20-7 record in 2018-19 as a junior…played in the North Carolina Coaches Association All-Star Classic for the West team in 2020…became the first ever player from his high school to be honored to play in the annual All-Star Classic…the game was played at the Greensboro Coliseum…attended the NCAA College Basketball Academy in the summer of 2019…the NCAA College Basketball Academy is a developmental academy for college-bound student-athletes...the academy was designed to give prospective athletes a sample of the college basketball experience…played for the NC Spartans in AAU Basketball.
PERSONAL
Born April 10, 2001…Isaac is the son of Tracy and David Spainhour…has four brothers -- Josh, Andrew, Noah, and James – he is second youngest…Isaac is the nephew of Dan Spainhour, the former Florida State Director of Basketball Operations (2005-06)…Dan Spainhour is one of the winningest basketball coaches in North Carolina Boys’ Basketball history with a career record of 483-253…coached Isaac in each of his four varsity seasons at West Stokes…Isaac is also an accomplished tennis player who competed for the West Stokes tennis team…chose to attend Florida State as a preferred walk-on after receiving offers from Bucknell, The Citadel and Roanoke College…earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Florida State on May 3, 2024.
