Tom Farniok joined the Florida State staff in 2020 and is in his first year as the Seminoles’ deputy director of football strength and conditioning in 2025. From 2020-24, Farniok was the associate director of football strength and conditioning.

He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is CPR/AED/First Aid certified through the American Red Cross.

Farniok joined the Florida State strength staff from Stanford, where he was an assistant sports performance coach for the Cardinal. His tasks included training offensive and defensive linemen as well as return-to-play rehabilitation

Prior to Stanford, Farniok worked as a sports performance coach at Houston, Buffalo and Louisiana Tech, working directly with the football programs at each school. At Houston, he implemented training for the running backs, tight ends and specialists and also worked with softball for two years.

A native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Farniok spent one season as the offensive line coach at Sioux Falls Washington High School.

Farniok started 47 games at center for Iowa State, helping the Cyclones reach the 2011 Pinstripe Bowl and 2012 Liberty Bowl. He earned All-Big 12 recognition in 2013 and 2014 and was voted a team captain in 2014. Following his career, he was selected to participate in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and was signed by the Minnesota Vikings.

Farniok graduated from Iowa State in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.
