Sept. 7, 2007
Senior Jonas Blixt is an All-America candidate as one of the nation’s top golfers as the Seminoles get set to begin the fall 2007 season at the Inverness Invitational. He earned Ping / Division I All-America Second-Team Honors in 2007 as he became the first All-America First or Second team selection at Florida State since Christian Raynor earned All-America First-Team honors in 1995. Blixt won the 2007 Individual ACC Champion as he became the first Seminole to win ACC medalist honors. He also earned all-ACC and All-Southeast Region All-America honors as a junior in helping lead Florida State to a tie for 13th placing in the 2007 NCAA Division I Championship as the Seminoles made their first appearance in the championship finals since 1996. Blixt sat down with seminoles.com for a short question and answer session during his preparations for Florida State’s first fall event of the year.
What is your favorite FSU Tradition?
My favorite Florida State tradition would have to be tailgating before football games.
If you could choose any other sport to play (other than Golf) what would it be?
Ice hokey! I almost played the sport when I was young but with my body size I never would have had a chance to be successful.
What is your favorite late night snack?
I like fruit and biscuits but my favorite late night snack is usually a shake.
What CD or music artist is your favorite right now?
Metallica never gets old for me but I’m also listening to a little bit of Justin and an artist named Magnus Uggla.
When you are not on the golf course, what could we catch you doing?
I work out a lot and enjoy hanging out with my friends.
Cold Stone Ice Cream or Dairy Queen?
Cold Stone would probably be my favorite.
What is the greatest movie you have ever seen?
Out of all the movies I’ve seen, Braveheart is the best.
Who do you idolize in golf?
Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott are my two favorite golfers.
What is the one thing you miss most about home?
I definitely miss the food and sometimes but I really enjoying being in the United States and going to school at Florida State.
Are you a Top Chef or a Disaster in the kitchen?
I’m a lot better at cooking that my teammates might think — but I don’t know if that’s saying much. Let’s just say I can usually eat what I cook.
Have you ever been to a theme park? If so, which one is your favorite?
It’s kind of sad but I’ve only been to one theme park a couple of times. I just love the rollercoasters!
What is the funniest or most awkward thing that has ever happened to you while playing golf?
The most awkward thing that has happened was when one of the guys in a group I was playing in cheated. There was a lot of talking and crying about that during the rest of the round. The funniest thing is my family’s yearly golf event. It is just tragic (the golf ) but we have a lot of fun. Everything that is not supposed to happen, happens!
Q What is your fantasy car?
I’d love to have either a Mustang Shellby or a Ferrari F-50
Q Movie Theaters, Bowling Alley, or Miniature Golf?
I like all of them and I’d probably beat most people in miniature golf but I would lose terribly in bowling.
Early Bird or Late Riser?
I’m a late riser. I’m never excited when the alarm goes off at 5:30 in the morning to go to workouts but if you want to get better you have to do it.
Do you collect anything?
I collect the strokesavers that we get at our tournaments but only if I’m going back to that course it in the future.
What skill, outside of golf, would you like to improve upon?
~Reading! It doesn’t matter if it’s Swedish or English, I’m horrible. I’d also like to know more about cars.
Where is your favorite golf course? Why is it your favorite?
The Island, just outside Dublin. It’s a challenging course and every hole has a cool aspect to it. It makes you have to hit all of the shots you have and also invent some new ones.
What is your favorite meal?
Nothing beats the Swedish Kebab pizza.
Do you have a pet?
My family has a lovely little cat named Smilla.
