TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Back on the road after a pair of sweeps at home last weekend, RV Florida State (12-5, 6-2 ACC) will travel north to face Georgia Tech (12-7, 5-3 ACC) and Clemson (9-10, 3-5 ACC) on October 25 and 27. The Seminoles will take on the Yellow Jackets on Friday at 7:00 p.m., while the contest against the Tigers will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
“It was a great rebound on our part last weekend,” said FSU head coach Chris Poole. “To get a sweep against physical teams like Boston College and Syracuse was nice to see after dropping a match at North Carolina. We need to carry that momentum this weekend into some tough road matches. Georgia Tech is really loaded and have a few Brazilian players that are as good as anyone in the conference, including a freshman that is 6-5 and has been training with the Brazilian National Team. Clemson started out slow in conference, but has won each of their last three ACC matches.
“Both places can be difficult to play, not only because of the competition on the court, but also the size of their gyms. Communication can be a challenge because of the sound bouncing off all the walls, and the low ceilings are something that are an advantage to the home teams. They are two of the most difficult places to play in the conference, and to play at both in the same weekend will require us to really focus on what we need to do and be intentional with all of our touches.”
Florida State is 22-30 all-time against Georgia Tech, but has had a lot of success recently as the Noles have won 11 of the last 12 matches against the Yellow Jackets, including six sweeps, dating back to 2010.
The Seminoles hold a 36-20 advantage in the all-time series against Clemson, including winning each of the last 12 matches since 2011.
Both matches this weekend will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, and links for the streams and live stats will be available on the volleyball schedule page on Seminoles.com.
