Noles Have Great Weekend At ITA Southeast Regional

TALLAHASSEE — Florida State men's tennis team earned results with several notable wins at the ITA Championships in Atlanta.
No. 55 Youcef Rihane, playing in the main draw, defeated South Florida's Bruno Oliveira in three sets, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 to advance to the Round of 32. Rihane partnered with Loris Pourroy in a 6-4 win over Florida's duo of Nate Bonetto and Jeremy Jin.
No. 102 Jamie Connel opened singles play in Atlanta with a ranked win, defeating Luca Hotze from UCF in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Connel's second win of the weekend came after beating Miami's Yannik Rahman 6-2, 6-3.
Justin Lyons began the weekend with a 6-2, 6-0 opening round win over Mercer's Samuel MacLeod. In the second round Lyons defeated FAU's Jiri Jenicek 7-5, 6-2 en route to a ranked showdown with Florida's Magnus Johnson. Lyons earned his first ranked win as a Seminole after a 7-6(5), 3-6, 7-5 three-set win over No. 79 Johnson to reach the quarterfinals.
Freshman Azariah Rusher began singles play by defeating former Seminole John Bernard, now at FAU, in a 6-4, 7-5 win. Rusher earned his second victory after a 6-3, 7-6(6) win over Georgia State's Aaron Williams. Rusher also paired up with fellow freshman Lyons in an 8-7(3) win over Kennesaw State's Sam Baldwin and Hugo Saleron.
No. 112 Pourroy dominated Florida Gulf Coast's Hugo Magnusson, only losing one game in a 6-1, 6-0 straight-set victory.
Alex Bulte earned his first ranked victory of the fall after a 6-2, 6-2 win over Florida's No. 86 Nate Bonetto. Bulte added to his win total after defeating Miami's Adrien Burdet in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
The Seminoles return to action October 23rd when they host the M15 Tallahassee tournament at Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center.
