Green Leads Seminoles Over North Florida, 91-75

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Darin Green Jr. made a season-high six 3-point shots, and scored his season-high of 24 points - including the 1,500th point of his career - to lead Florida State to a 91-75 victory at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The win was the Seminoles' eighth consecutive victory over the Ospreys. Florida State is now 8-0 all-time against their neighbors from Jacksonville.

Green has now scored 1,515 career points and made 331 career 3-point shots in his five-year career at UCF and Florida State.

Green Jr. led four Seminoles in double-digit scoring with Jalen Warley (12 points), Primo Spears (12 points) and Baba Miller (10 points) putting the Seminoles over the 90-point plateau for the third time this season.

The Seminoles showed their chemistry as they played unselfishly and shared the ball throughout the game as they totaled 17 assists on 34 field goals. They used their size to their advantage against the Ospreys on the defensive side of the ball and only trailed for 26 seconds during the contest. Florida State held its biggest lead of the game (27 points, 76-49) with 7:08 remaining in the second half.

"We were able to extend our play for longer periods of time than in previous games," said Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton who has led the Seminoles to eight wins over the Ospreys. "It really helped to energize the team and that made it more difficult for North Florida."

It only seemed right for Green Jr. that his 1,500th career point would come as a three-pointer, which he made in the first half of the game. He was tonight's leader for the Seminoles, scoring 24 points and adding two rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Warley stuffed the stat sheet tonight, scoring  12 points, pulling down four rebounds, adding two assists, and one steal.

Spears had a strong second game wearing the garnet and gold. He posted 12 points and played unselfishly with five rebounds and three assists.

Miller was the fourth Seminole tonight to score double digits with 10 points. He assisted with four rebounds and a career-high four assists in the victory.

Florida State had a strong shooting percentage of 50.7 percent, having 32 points coming from the bench with 40 of its points scored in the paint. Hamilton was able to rotate 12 players throughout the game.

"We were able to contest more inside and be more aggressive on the perimeter because we played more guys playing less minutes, which helped to sustain their energy for the entire game," said Hamilton.

The Ospreys had a strong performance from Chaz Lanier as he scored his career high of 22 points, with North Florida constantly shooting from outside the paint.

Florida State continues its seven-game homestand at the Tucker Center on Friday, December 22 at 7:00 p.m. as its plays host to Winthrop.
