Noles to Compete at 2023 World Athletics Championships

Tallahassee, Fla. – From Aug. 19-27, eight athletes with ties to Florida State cross country/track & field will compete at the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary.
Caisa-Marie Lindfors, Adriaan Wildschutt, Linden Hall, Lauren Ryan, Kimberly Williams, Andrew Coscoran, Militsa Mircheva, and Alonzo Russell will be in action.
A live stream of the nine-day meet will also be available on Peacock starting Aug. 19 at 2:30 a.m. Additionally, subscribers can access all TV coverage through the NBC Sports app and on NBCSports.com.
Andrew Coscoran – Ireland
1,500m – Aug. 19
Coscoran will take on his first World Championships, running the 1500m. In 2020, he qualified and represented Ireland in track and field at the Olympics.
In the 1,500m, Coscoran placed first at the 2020 National Indoor Championship with a time of 3:48.89, and the 2021 National Championship with a time of 3:41.36. He was ranked in the top eight at the 2021 European Indoor Championship, where he placed seventh.
Coscoran represented Florida State from 2015-16 where he competed at the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
The first six finishers from each heat will move on to semi-finals, which are scheduled for Aug. 20 and the final will take place on Aug. 23.
Linden Hall – Australia
1,500m – Aug.19
Hall will compete in her fourth World Championships in the 1,500m. At the 2019 World Championships, Hall finished 10th in the semi-finals of the 1,500m, before competing in distances ranging from 800m to 5000m throughout 2020.
Hall is also a two-time Olympian where she finished sixth in the 1500m.
A record-breaking 3:30.67 in 2021 allowed Hall to break the elusive four-minute barrier for the first time in Australian history in the 1,500m as she reclaimed her national record.
As a Seminole from 2011-15, Hall captured four All-American honors between indoor and outdoor disciplines, and four medals at the ACC Championships in 1500m. She won the bronze medal at the 2014 NCAA Championships in the outdoor 1500m.
The first six finishers from each heat will move on to semi-finals, which are scheduled for Aug. 20. The finals are set for Aug. 22.
Caisa-Marie Lindfors – Sweden
Discus - Aug. 20
A two-time national champion in the discus for Sweden, Lindfors is competing in her first World Championships. She set her personal best throw in July of this season at 60.90m.
Lindfors was the 2023 ACC Champion in the discus and was a first-team All-American behind a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships (59.32m), which was the third-best mark in school history.
The final is scheduled for Aug. 22.
Militsa Mircheva - Bulgaria
Marathon - Aug. 26
A 11-time Bulgarian Champion, Mircheva set the national record in the marathon in May of 2022 with a time of 2:29.23. She competed at the 2016 Olympic Games and at the World Championships in 2022, where she placed 15th at 2:30.20.
A member of the Noles from 2016-2019, Mircheva was a two-time All-ACC honoree in cross country and she earned two All-ACC first team and second team honors for indoor track and field. In 2018, Mircheva was the NCAA Sout Region Cross Country champion.
Alonzo Russell – Bahamas
400m - Aug. 20
Russell is a two-time silver medalist at the NACAC Championships. This will be his third appearance at the World Championships, after competing at the 2015 World Championships and 2016 World Indoor Championships.
Semi-finals of the race will run on Aug. 22. The final will take place on Aug. 24.
Lauren Ryan – Australia
5,000m – Aug. 23
Ryan will compete in the 5,000m for the first time at the World Championships, where she is currently ranked 36th in the world.
After overcoming injury during the summer of 2019-20, she blossomed in the 2020-21 season, earning selection in her first Australian senior team at the 2022 World Indoor Championships in the 3,000m and now at the 2023 World Championships in the 5,000m.
Her time at FSU from 2019-22 resulted in a first-place finish at the ACC Outdoor Championship in 2022. As an athlete in both track and field and cross-country, she was twice named All-American in addition to three Atlantic Coast Conference awards in 2022. She was also the 2022 ACC track and field champion in the 10,000m.
The final is scheduled for Aug. 26.
Adriaan Wildschutt – South Africa
10,000m – Aug. 20 (Final)
Wildschutt set the national record in the 10,000m on May 6 of this season. His seed time of 27:23.10 is the 18th-fastest time in the world this year.
During his time at FSU, Wildschutt was named an All-American seven times between cross country and track and field. He also captured three ACC titles in 2021 that included indoor 3,000m and outdoor 5,000m. He also dominated the men's 8k at the ACC Cross Country Championships.
Just days after placing fourth in the 5,000m at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Wildschutt produced the highest finish by an FSU student-athlete in history in the 10k by placing second at the NCAA Cross Country Championships that were moved to the spring of 2021 due to COVID-19.
Additionally, he won the 2021 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in 2021, as well as the ACC Men's XC Athlete of the Year award.
Kimberly Williams – Jamaica
Triple Jump - Aug. 23
Williams became an accomplished Olympian competing in the London (2012), Rio de Janeiro (2016), and Tokyo (2020) Olympics. She gave Jamaica its second medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championships, leaping to a season's best 14.62 meters, taking bronze.
In 2008, Williams earned both the ACC's Indoor and Outdoor Freshman of the Year honors during her time at FSU from 2007-11. Following that, Williams later received the USTFCCCA Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year in 2009. Aside from track and field, she won eleven All-American awards, most of them in the triple jump.
Williams was elected to the FSU Hall of Fame in the year 2021, still holding the ACC and FSU triple jump records in the indoor and outdoor arenas. When inducted into the FSU Hall of Fame, Williams was recognized for winning 12 ACC titles over her career - the most of any Seminole, both male and female.
The final is scheduled for Aug. 25.

Lauren Ryan – Australia
5,000m – Aug. 23
Ryan will compete in the 5,000m for the first time at the World Championships, where she is currently ranked 36th in the world.
