Men's Golf Ends First Round of OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational in Fourth

Tallahassee, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – No. 5 Florida State Men's Golf had a productive first round at the challenging OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational, shooting a 3-over 283 and sitting in fourth place through Friday at Olympia Fields Country Club.
Senior Gray Albright, who is playing as an individual, was Florida State's top finisher for the day as he carded an impressive 4-under 66 to mark a career low. The Ocala, Fla., native racked up six birdies on a difficult course that has hosted several Majors, starting his first nine holes on the back nine with a 32.
Albright has winning experience as a Seminole, earning the 2023 Seminole Intercollegiate title when he shot a 10-under 206 at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club. His score does not factor into FSU's team score.
Albright is tied for third on the leaderboard, behind only Christo Lamprecht (-5) of Georgia Tech and Karl Vilips of Stanford (5) and tying Jacob Sosa (-4) of Texas.
Sophomore Luke Clanton and freshman Tyler Weaver each finished their first rounds at 1-under. Clanton managed three birdies and just two bogeys while Weaver, who had a nice debut at the Folds of Honor Collegiate earlier in the month, totaled four birdies on the day. Both golfers are tied for 10th.
Senior Brett Roberts shot a 1-over 71 to count among the team's four scores, finishing well with a 35 on the back nine that included a birdie and a bogey. Roberts is tied for 25th.
Redshirt senior Cole Anderson is 4-over and tied for 57th.
The Seminoles will begin the second round on Saturday morning at Olympia Fields, with tee times to be announced.
