Volleyball Begins ACC Slate at Virginia Tech and Wake Forest

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State Volleyball team begins ACC play with two road matches this weekend, facing Virginia Tech on Friday at 6 p.m. and Wake Forest on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both contests will air on ACC Network Extra.
The Seminoles (6-6) are coming off a 3-0 sweep over UNF at home on Tuesday night behind a season-best 10 kills from freshman Maddie Snider. All six of FSU's wins this season have come in 3-0 sweeps, including a strong early-season win at Georgia on Aug. 26.
FSU begins Friday night at the Hokies (10-1), with the Seminoles owning a 37-4 all-time series advantage and 10 straight victories against Virginia Tech. The Demon Deacons (9-2) await on Sunday in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Chris Poole since 2008, FSU is 11-4 in ACC openers. The Noles have one of the most efficient hitting groups in the nation. FSU has seven matches this year where they have hit .350 or better, and rank second nationally with a .331 hitting percentage.
The Seminoles rank fifth nationally with 13.32 assists per set.
Junior middle blocker Khori Louis ranks as one of the nation's best at her position. The Tallahassee native is 14th in the country with a .452 hitting percentage and recently had 14 kills in 21 swings at No. 3 Florida.
Fellow junior middle blocker Kiari Robey is 18th in the country in hitting percentage at .440. Last week she delivered 10 kills and a .421 hitting percentage at TCU.
Freshman Kenna Phelan, whose art work has been showcased heavily on the NCAA Volleyball Social Media Account this week, is averaging 5.45 assists per set in Poole's 6-2 system. Graduate setter Jelli Draskovic leads the Seminoles with 6.08 assists per set.
Senior right-side hitter Sydney Conley looks to continue her strong play after recording seven kills in 10 swings against UNF on Tuesday. She elevated her average to 1.64 kills per set this season as she prepares for her 86th career match on Friday.
