Tallahassee, Fla- The RV/28 Florida State cross country teams will race in the Joe Piane Invitational, hosted by the University of Notre Dame on Friday. Additionally, Florida State will also host the annual FSU XC Invitational.
"We have one of the best courses in the country," FSU women's head coach Cody Haley said. "Any day we can race at the Apalachee Regional Park is a fantastic opportunity. We believe our women will take advantage of racing at home!"
The day will start at the Apalachee Regional Park with the men's 8K at 7:40 a.m., followed by the women's 5K at 8:15 a.m. Admission is free.
"We're happy to be hosting the FSU Invitational," FSU men's head coach Bob Braman said. "There are 40 team coming, so it'll be an extremely large race for some of our team and great for our young redshirts to gain experience."
The Joe Piane Invitational will take place at the Burke Golf Course. The 28th-ranked women's team will compete in the 5k at 10:30 a.m., followed by the RV men at 11:5 a.m., in the 5-mile race.
"Cross country gets serious nationally this time of year," Braman said. "The Notre Dame Joe Piane Invite is the best race of the weekend. Our guys are a little salty about being dropped from the top 30, despite not losing a meet this season. It's a great opportunity to race blue bloods, like Notre Dame, NC State, Alabama, among others."
"The women have been putting in consistent hard work, week after week," Halsey added. "We are ready and excited to race in one of the best meets of the weekend. It's always great to get the opportunity to go head-to-head against nationally ranked teams from our conference and region and the women are looking forward to it!"
Live timing will be available for both races.
