GRAND HAVEN, MI. (Seminoles.com) - The No. 5 Florida State Men's Golf team completed play in the second round of the Folds Of Honor Collegiate, moving their way up the leaderboard to sixth place after shooting a 5-over par, 289 total in round two.

Michigan State overcame round one's leader, South Carolina, after being the only team to shoot under par in the second round. Michigan State leads the 18-team field at 2-over par. NC State's Nick Mathews continues to lead the individual field at 5-under.

The front-nine at American Dunes Golf Club retained its monumental difficulty from the first round, as Florida State struggled as a team in the opening nine. Although the Seminoles did not get off to the promising start they expected, the team recuperated their play on the back-nine.

Redshirt Senior Cole Anderson and freshman Tyler Weaver led the Seminoles in Grand Haven, Michigan on day two, with both teammates shooting even-par.

Tyler Weaver currently sits atop the leaderboard for Florida State and is T9 at 1-over par in the 90-player field.

Although Weaver got off to a rocky start with a bogey on the first hole, he quickly recovered with  two birdies on holes four and six to get to his lowest score of the tournament at 1-under par.

He was one of four Seminoles in round two's play to card a double bogey. After making the turn at 2-over par and bogeying the 10th hole, Weaver never looked back as he captured two back-to-back birdies on holes 14 and 15, followed by a finishing birdie on the 18th hole.

Weaver doubled down on his consistent junior golf play, as he beat his collegiate debut score of 1-over in the first round with an even-par finish in round two. With a combined eight birdies made in round one and two, Weaver joins teammate Luke Clanton to lead the Seminoles in birdies.

Weaver is the top-Seminole scorer and the only freshman to have a 2.75 (-2) or better scoring average on par 3's in the entire individual field.

Anderson joined Weaver in consistent play as the redshirt senior carded three birdies and three bogeys in his second 18 of the Folds of Honor Collegiate.

The tale of two nines proved to be true for Anderson, as compared to round one, his scorecard showed drastic improvement on the front-nine. Through his first six holes on the front-nine in round one, Anderson was 4-over par, whereas on Tuesday, Anderson posted a 1-under par through those same holes.

Moving onto his favorite nine from Monday, Anderson started off the back-nine with a birdie to get to 2-under for the day. It wasn't until hole No. 13 where he carded back-to-back bogeys to return to even-par.

Anderson finished out round two with four pars and is currently T18 at 2-over par.

Sophomore Luke Clanton improved from round two, shooting a 1-over par 72 to finish the day in 24th place.

After starting off his first nine with a birdie, Clanton was 3-over through his next three holes due to a bogey on the second hole and a double bogey on hole No. 4. He captured another birdie on No. 6, the 553-yard par 5, to end the nine at 1-over par.

Through an up-and-down back-nine filled with three birdies and three birdies, Clanton was able to card two of those birdies on his last two holes to score even-par on his final nine of the day.

Clanton joined teammate Tyler Weaver in being the lowest-scoring Seminole on par-5 scoring, averaging a 4.50 (-3).

Junior Michael Mays was unable to card a single birdie in Tuesday's round, unlike round one where he carded three birdies along with an even-par back-nine.

Mays started off with two pars followed by two bogeys to push him to 2-over par through four holes, but ultimately found his rhythm as he carded eight straight pars until an ultimate double bogey on the 13th hole.

He returned to his previous smooth rhythm, ending his round with five pars to finish with a 4-over par 75. He is currently 7-over par for the tournament and T44. Mays leads the Seminoles in pars, totaling 25 over two rounds.

Senior Brett Roberts found trouble in his opening holes, falling victim to the treacherous second hole on the front-nine - the hardest hole on the golf course. Hole No. 2 at American Dunes has, thus far, recorded a +0.63 scoring average which includes 68 bogeys, 13 double bogeys, and six others [more than a double bogey].

Although he faced more difficulty on hole No. 3, Roberts persevered and birdied two out of his remaining six holes on the front-nine. He carried this momentum onto the back-nine, carding eight pars in a row followed by a birdie on hole No. 15.

Roberts finished his last three holes of round two at 1-over par to card a 5-over par 76. He joins teammate Michael Mays at 7-over par for the tournament and is T44.

Florida State once again led the way with Michigan State on par-5 scoring, averaging a 4.67 (-10). The Seminoles were +25 (4.23) on par 4's and +5 (3.13) on par 3's. The five-man team totaled 105 pars and 32 birdies.

The Seminoles will pair with Notre Dame and Arkansas for the final round of the Folds of Honor Collegiate. Michael Mays will tee off Florida State at 9:20am ET and Tyler Weaver will wrap up the Seminoles at 10:00am ET.

Live coverage will be televised on the Golf Channel from 4pm-7pm ET on Wednesday. Be sure to keep up with the Florida State Men's Golf team on Instagram (fsumensgolf) and X (FSUGolf).
