No. 22 FSU Puts Seven Past Pittsburgh

10/20/2024 4:21:00 PM | Women's Soccer

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 22 Florida State soccer team (10-2-2, 5-2-1) dominated Pittsburgh 7-1 in the Seminole Heritage game on Sunday afternoon. The Seminoles extended their 24-game unbeaten streak at home and scored the second most goals in a single game this season.

Florida State scored seven goals over the Panthers, this marks the first time the Seminoles have scored seven goals against a conference opponent since the 7-0 victory over Clemson in 2012.

FSU brought the heat early as Jordynn Dudley weaved through defenders to score less than five minutes into the first half. Dudley scored her fourth goal of the season and is currently averaging two points a start.

Wrianna Hudson came off the bench and made an immediate impact as she struck her shot into the back of the net before registering a second goal with less than a minute left in the first half. Hudson recorded her first career multi-goal game and moved to second in team goals.

Florida State continued to establish physical play through the second half, putting consistent pressure on Pittsburgh's defense. Solai Washington laid off a pass to Huff and she tucked away her tenth goal of the season. Huff joins the double-digit scoring club and becomes just the fourth Seminole in the past five seasons to score 10+ goals.

Following Pittsburgh's lone goal on the day, Washington made her way onto the scoring sheet as she curled her hammering effort past the keeper to make it a handful. The freshman has scored in back-to-back games for the first time in her career.

Defender Heather Gilchrist scored her first collegiate goal off a corner kick before Giana Riley fought hard for a breakaway goal with only 52 seconds left in the game.

Florida State will hold Senior Day in its final regular season home game against No. 4 North Carolina on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and available to stream on ACC Network Extra.
