Noles Complete Sweep with 20-7 Win

2/25/2024 5:48:00 PM | Baseball

TALLAHASSEE?- Florida State (6-0) completed its second sweep of the season over Western Carolina (3-4) with a final score of 20-7 at Dick Howser Stadium Sunday afternoon. The bats continued to stay hot as James Tibbs had Florida State's first multi-home run game of the season and four players had multi-hit games.

Relief pitcher Noah Short (1-0) entered in the first inning and held Western Carolina to two runs, limiting what could have been a bigger inning after the first three Catamount hitters reached base. Freshman Matt Sauser entered the game in the second frame, pitching 3.0 innings, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out four.

Like it did Friday night, Florida State answered Western Carolina with four runs of its own in the first inning and never looked back. FSU built its lead to 11-2 on Tibbs' grand slam in the third inning, his second grand slam of the season.

Second baseman Drew Faurot was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI in the game. For the weekend, Faurot finished 8-for-11 with six extra base hits, seven RBI and six runs scored.
