TALLAHASSEE – The No. 4 Florida State beach volleyball team will travel to Manhattan Beach, California, to play in the East vs. West Tournament this weekend. FSU's undefeated record makes it the only undefeated team in the AVCA top 20. The Seminoles (13-0) look to continue their best start since 2021 against four of the top teams in the nation.
FSU comes into this weekend after defeating No. 16 FAU and FGCU in Boca Raton on Tuesday. The Seminoles swept both the Owls and the Eagles, 5-0 without dropping a set. Junior Audrey Koenig and graduate student Raelyn White put on a dominating performance, winning both matches by a margin of at least six points.
The Noles begin the weekend against No. 13 Hawaii, which enters Manhattan Beach 6-5. The Rainbow Wahine had a difficult start to the season, starting 0-5 with all five losses coming to No. 5 LMU, No. 2 UCLA, No. 7 Stanford, and No. 1 USC. Since then, Hawaii has gone 6-0. Florida State leads the all-time series against the Rainbow Wahine 9-4, with the Seminoles winning their most recent matchup 4-1 last March.
The Seminoles will then face No. 6 Cal, which comes into the weekend 9-3. The Golden Bears have earned notable wins over No. 5 LMU and Arizona State this season. This marks the first time Florida State will play Cal in program history.
Florida State then plays No. 2 UCLA. The Bruins played for an NCAA national championship last season but came up short to USC. They currently sit at 11-4 with their losses coming to No. 1 USC, No. 5 ULM, and No. 7 Stanford. UCLA leads the all-time series 9-14, and the Bruins won the previous matchup 3-0 in the NCAA Tournament semifinal.
FSU closes the weekend against No. 10 LMU. The Lions currently sit at 7-6 and have many notable wins over some of the top teams in the nation this season. The Seminoles lead the all-time series with LMU 10-2, with Florida State winning their previous matchup 4-1 in San Luis Obispo, California, last April. The history between the Noles and the Lions dates to 2013 with FSU sweeping LMU in their first match.
The Seminoles will open play on Friday against Hawaii at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time and Cal at 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, FSU will then play UCLA at 12:30 p.m., followed by LMU at 4:00 p.m. Live stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
