MLB Update: April 1

The 2024 MLB season kicked off this past Thursday, and six former Noles made their team's Opening Day rosters.

Left-handed pitcher Tyler Holton (DET), right-handed pitchers Cole Sands (MIN) and Luke Weaver (NYY), catcher Cal Raleigh (SEA), right fielder DJ Stewart (NYM), and third baseman Taylor Walls (TB) represent the Seminoles.

Kevin Cash (TB) and Pedro Grifol (CWS) are managing their respective squads, and Mark Hallberg (SF) and Jody Reed (MIA) are assistant coaches.

Tyler Holton, P, Detroit Tigers
Holton pitched in Saturday and Sunday's games against the Chicago White Sox. He earned his first win of the season Sunday after striking out all four batters he faced and posted a 0.00 ERA, with five strikeouts and 2.1 innings of work.

Cole Sands, P, Minnesota Twins
Sands made his season debut on Sunday versus the Kansas City Royals, going 2.0 innings, allowing one hit, one earned run, and striking out two batters.

Luke Weaver, P, New York Yankees
Weaver earned his first win of the season following a 1.1 inning, no-hit, no-run outing versus the Houston Astros.

Cal Raleigh, C, Seattle Mariners
Raleigh was in the starting lineup on Opening Day behind the plate and was batting in the five spot before taking a rest day on Sunday.

DJ Stewart, OF, New York Mets
Stewart was the designated hitter in the Mets' season opener on Friday. Stewart came in to pinch-hit and play right field on Saturday versus the Milwaukee Brewers.

Taylor Walls, INF, Tampa Bay Rays
Walls started the season on the 10-Day Injured List.
