After dropping a pair of one-run games last weekend at No. 12 Wake Forest, Florida State bounced back Tuesday evening, defeating North Florida 10-2. The Seminoles are 13-0 against in-state opponents this year, with two mid-week contests to go against Jacksonville and Stetson.
Freshman Matt Sauser made his second start and sixth appearance of the year. Fellow freshman John Abraham came in and threw 3.0 innings, giving up just one hit, allowing no runs and striking out four batters to earn his second win of the season.
Marco Dinges hit his tenth home run and third grand slam of the year, tying a career-high with five RBI on the night. As a team, Florida State's nine grand slams are a school record, topping the eight the 1996 team hit.
The bats continue to stay hot as the Seminoles have hit a home run in 15 consecutive games, which is the third-longest streak in program history. James Tibbs III hit his 17th home run of the year and was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Cam Smith reached base for the 50th consecutive game following his fourth inning double and scored a run on a swim move at the plate that was No. 2 on SportsCenter's Top 10. The standouts are both hitting .401 this season and are the only Power 5 teammates with at least 60 hits and hitting over .400 this year.
Duke fell to Campbell 18-4 Tuesday in seven innings, splitting the season series. The Blue Devils are coming off four consecutive ACC series wins, most recently at Virginia Tech.
