No. 15 Softball Begins Super Regional at No. 2 Oklahoma

TALLAHASSEE - The No. 15 Florida State softball team (46-14) will take center stage on Thursday night as the Seminoles will take on three-time National Champion No. 2 Oklahoma (52-6) in the 2024 Norman Super Regional at Love's Field. The teams will play at 7 p.m. eastern on Thursday night on ESPN2 and Friday at 8 p.m. Saturday's game time for the if necessary game is still to be determined. Beth Mowins, Michele Smith, Jessica Mendoza and Holly Rowe will be on the call for ESPN in Norman.

- A heavyweight battle and a National Championship rematch is set for primetime this week in Norman, Oklahoma.
- The Seminoles and Sooners have met in two out of the last three Women's College World Series Championship Series.
- The two teams have combined to win four out of the last five National Championships.
- Every WCWS Championship Series since 2016 has featured either Florida State or Oklahoma.
- Other than Oklahoma, no team has won more games in the Women's College World Series than Florida State since 2018. FSU has won 14 games in OKC since 2018.
- Florida State is playing in its 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament and its 36th overall NCAA Tournament.
- FSU is making its 11th Super Regional appearance all-time. FSU has reached the Super Regional round in 10 out of the last 11 seasons.

- Beachum was named the ACC Freshman of the Year and was a First Team All-ACC performer while Torres was named to the All-ACC Second Team.
- Both Beachum and Torres were named Top 25 finalists for the TUCCI/NFCA National Freshman of the Year award, and Beachum was named a Top 10 finalist for the award.

- Edenfield joined Jessi Warren and Sydney Sherrill as the only Seminoles to have 50+ RBI in their first two seasons in the Garnet and Gold.
- Edenfield will look to join Warren as the only two Seminoles who have recorded three 50+ RBI seasons. Warren had four 50+ RBI seasons as a Seminole. Edenfield needs just four RBI to reach the 50 RBI mark.
- Last season, Edenfield was phenomenal when it mattered most. In 2023, 25 out of her 39 hits (64%) resulted in a run being scored. So far in 2024, 22 out of Edenfield's 51 hits (43%) have resulted in a run being scored.
- Edenfield missed nine games due to a broken finger but made her return against North Carolina as a designated player. Edenfield went 3-for-6 with one home run and three RBI against the Tar Heels.
- Edenfield is hitting .389 this season after having not finished with above a .300 batting average in her first two seasons as a Seminole.
- Edenfield currently sits tied for fourth in FSU history with 43 career home runs.
- Jaysoni Beachum has had the greatest freshman season in school history, but Isa Torres is not too far behind Beachum.
- Torres is third on the team in batting average (.360) and has driven in 57 runs this season which is tied for second among freshman in the country.
- Torres has the chance to have the second-most RBI ever by a true freshman in Florida State history as she needs just two RBI to move to second behind teammate Jaysoni Beachum.
- Among Florida State freshmen, Torres ranks third in single season RBI, fourth in home runs, sixth in batting average and eighth in hits.
- Torres has continued to make jaw-dropping plays at the shortstop position this season and holds a .963 fielding percentage this season.
- When the pressure is on, freshman Isa Torres has come up big on multiple occasions for the Seminoles.
- Torres has hit two-game clinching home runs as she hit a three-run home run in the Regional Final against Auburn to put the Noles up 10-3. Torres also hit a three-run home run against Florida to give the Noles a 6-2 lead in the win against the Gators.
- Torres has hit two walk-offs in the bottom of the seventh this season to lead the Noles to victory.
- Torres hit a two-run walk-off home run against NC State on Mar. 28 to put the Seminoles on top 8-6. Torres was the first true freshman to hit a walk-off home run since Jessi Warren in 2015 against Notre Dame.
- Torres also hit a two-RBI walk-off single against Texas Tech on Feb. 9 to win the game for the Noles.
- Remember Devyn Flaherty? Yes, she's back to her old self and has been leading the charge for the Noles at the plate in the past 33 games.
- Flaherty has hit .434 in her last 33 games compared to just a .207 average in her first 27 games.
- Against Boston College, she put the game away with a two-run home run to complete FSU's seventh inning comeback against the Eagles.
- Flaherty is still as dangerous as ever on the base paths as she has 16 stolen bases on 18 attempts.
- Flaherty has played in 271 games as a Seminole which is the second-most among active Division 1 players behind Florida's Skylar Wallace.
- Last season, Flaherty stole 31 bases on 32 attempts which led the ACC.
- Flaherty cracked the all-time top 10 list for most career stolen bases in school history. Flaherty picked up her 100th career stolen base against UCF. Flaherty is just the seventh player in Florida State history to record 100 stolen bases in her career.
- Flaherty was one of four players in the NCAA in 2023 to steal 30 or more bases while only being caught once.
- It's fair to say that no one has improved more this season than Ashtyn Danley in the circle.
- Danley has made a team-high 19 starts for the Seminoles this season and holds a 18-5 record. Danley's 18 wins is the third-most ever by a Florida State freshman.
- In her last 26 appearances, Danley holds a team-leading 2.17 ERA in 90.1 innings while striking out 69 batters.
- Danley was named to the All-ACC Second Team.
- Redshirt junior Jahni Kerr is back for the Seminoles after a breakout season in 2023.
- In 2024, Kerr is hitting .314 with 38 RBI in 52 games. Kerr missed seven games this season due to injury.
- Kerr was named to the All-ACC Third Team.
- Against Pitt, Kerr hit three home runs in three games for the Noles.
- As one of the top recruits in the country coming out of high school, Kerr struggled in her first two seasons as a Seminole as she dealt with the implications of COVID and was recovering from a knee injury that she suffered her freshman season.
- The tide turned for Kerr in 2023, and it all started with a home run in a primetime ESPN slot against Alabama at the 2023 Clearwater Invitational. Kerr came into the game starting in just three out of the Seminoles nine games and was 2-for-10 at the plate.
- Kerr led the team with a .356 batting average while adding eight home runs and 40 RBI in 2023.
- Kerr earned First Team All-ACC honors for the first time in her career and was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team.
- Fans have known the name Amaya Ross for awhile but mainly for her insane speed on the base paths. Now, Ross has found herself in the FSU lineup for more than just her speed.
- Ross has started all 60 games this season after making just 18 starts the past two seasons.
- Ross has surpassed her hit, RBI and home run numbers this season from the last two seasons combined.
- Ross had one of the best weeks of her career at the Dugout Club Classic.
- In six games, Ross recorded 10 hits in 15 at-bats (.667) with six RBI and three triples.
- Ross was involved in 17 out of the Seminoles 47 runs scored in the Dugout Club Classic and was a perfect 5-for-5 on the base paths.
- Ross's seven triples is third in the country.
- Ross is 21st in the country and first in the ACC with 28 stolen bases this season.
- Ross currently holds a .324 batting average with eight home runs.
- Ross has stolen 55 bases in 60 attempts over the course of her career.
- No one has embraced the utility role more in her career than Kalei Harding.
- Harding, who was recruited as a catcher, has played all but three positions (Pitcher, catcher, second base) during her career at Florida State.
- Harding is one of just three active players in the NCAA to have played six or more positions in their career.
