Seminoles Perform Well at UTR PTT Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida State men's tennis team concluded a week long of individual play in the UTR Pro Tennis Tournament $25K Tallahassee.
Oklahoma State transfer Erik Schiessl had a strong weekend to begin his Seminole career, claiming three wins in group play before defeating Youcef Rihane in straight sets to advance to the first place playoff finals. Rihane also earned three wins in group play and claimed the second seed of the tournament going into the playoffs.
Boston University transfer Corey Craig began his Florida State career in dominant fashion, winning four matches and claiming all eight possible sets. He dropped the fewest games of any player (22) while winning 49 games. He earned the top seed coming out of group play and fell to eventual winner Viktor Markov in the first place playoff semifinals.
Jamie Connel and Alex Bulte had great performances as each claimed three victories to lock up second in their respective groups before clashing in the second place playoff final. Bulte was able to secure a victory after just five games as Connel retired from the final match.
Joshua Dous-Karpenschif and Azariah Rusher split their matches in group play before Dous-Karpenschif edged out Rusher in the third place playoff final. Freshmen Jan Sebesta and Elias Sumann qualified for the fourth place playoff while Justin Lyons claimed the fifth place playoff finals victory.
The Seminoles will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the ITA Men's All-American Championships with the qualifying rounds beginning on Monday.
