TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State cross country teams will be racing in the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday in Madison, Wisconsin at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
The women's "A" 6K will start at 1:20 p.m., and the men's 8K will follow at 2:00 p.m. Live timing will be available.
The meet will feature 17 of the top 30 men's teams and 13 ranked teams on the women's side.
"We are more than excited to get out there and race in one of the premier meets in the country, against so many of best teams in the NCAA," said FSU women's head coach Cody Halsey. "The women have been working incredibly hard and are ready to showcase some fitness. For some, it will be their first time in an FSU singlet. I'm really looking forward to this opportunity for them."
The Noles were led by freshman Lily Guinn at the UCF Invitational on August 30th. Guinn made her college debut, winning with a time of 17:16.4 in the 5k. The Norfolk, Virginia native led the Noles to a perfect score of 15, collecting their first team win of the season. She was named the ACC Freshman of the Week for her efforts, becoming the first women's runner to win the honor since Jane Eiselstein in 2022.
The men's team also took home their first team win, after taking the top three spots in the 5k with Kidus Misgina leading with a winning time of 14:32.4.
"I'm incredibly excited for the Nuttycombe Invitational," said assistant coach Ian Frazier. "This weekend serves as our first measuring stick for the season and will show us where we stand in the ACC and the NCAA."
"We've discussed this meet being a learning opportunity for later in the season, as we're returning here for Pre-Nationals and hopefully the NCAA meet in November," Frazier added. "We've done a lot of course-specific work in preparation for this meet, so I'm hopeful for the guys will be able to apply that work towards a team performance we can be proud of."
