BERKELEY, Calif. – Cal benefited from an 18-6 scoring run midway through the second half and held on to defeat visiting Florida State, 77-68, at the Haas Pavilion in the first ACC meeting between the two teams. DJ Campbell began the Golden Bears' second-half run with a 3-point field goal after the Seminoles had taken a 51-49 lead on a dunk by Jerry Deng at the 11:50 mark. Cal's 18-6 scoring outburst gave it a 67-55 lead with just under five minutes remaining. The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the game and the Bears earned their third ACC win.

The Seminoles are now 13-6 overall and 4-4 in ACC play. The Golden Bears are now 10-9 overall and 3-5 in their first season of ACC play.

Jamir Watkins led the Seminoles with 18 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, while shooting efficiently from the free throw line, making three-of-four free throws. Malique Ewin earned his fifth consecutive double-double, contributing 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Ewin and Watkins have each scored in double figures for 16 consecutive games, a streak that includes every Seminoles' game since November 15 and all eight of their ACC matchups.

Jerry Deng added 11 points, while Taylor Bol Bowen and Daquan Davis also made key contributions. Bol Bowen recorded nine points, seven rebounds, and four blocks, while Davis finished with eight points and four rebounds.

The Seminoles scored the first points of the game, with Ewin scoring the game's first points on a layup off a turnover at the 18:03 mark. Florida State struggled to maintain momentum, trailing 37-33 at halftime despite briefly reclaiming the lead at 3:45 in the first half after a layup from Davis.

Florida State's starting lineup saw a change with Justin Thomas earning the second start of his career. He made his presence felt defensively, registering two blocks, while Bol Bowen recorded a career-high four blocks for the second time in his career.

The Seminoles showcased their usual strong defensive effort, tallying nine blocks, five steals, and 21 defensive rebounds. Watkins and Davis each contributed two steals.

Cal's Jeremiah Wilkinson led the Golden Bears with 18 points, while Rytis Petraitis and Mady Sissoko both recorded double-doubles, helping the Bears regain control down the stretch.

The Seminoles will remain in California to face Stanford at Maples Pavilion on Saturday, January 25, at 7:00 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the game on the ACC Network or listen via the Seminole Sports Network.
