TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State soccer senior defender Heather Gilchrist was named to the Scholar All-America First Team, United Soccer Coaches announced on Thursday.
The honor comes after Gilchrist was recognized on the Academic All-America Second Team by College Sports Communicators on Wednesday. Both national academic accolades are the first of her career.
Gilchrist is the 12th player in team history to earn Scholar All-America honors. It is the 14th accolade overall and FSU's first since Malia Berkely in 2020 also was on the first team. Gilchrist is the eighth player to be recognized by United Soccer Coaches with both All-America and Scholar All-America distinction in the same season, with Berkely in 2020 also being the last. Along with her Scholar All-America First Team accolades, she was named to the All-America Third Team two weeks ago.
The national awards add to a long list of accolades for Gilchrist in 2025. Along with All-Region Second Team and Scholar All-Region First Team honors, she was named to the College Cup All-Tournament Team and Third Team All-ACC. A two-time National Team of the Week awardee by Top Drawer Soccer, Gilchrist was recognized on the Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List. She is a three-time All-ACC Academic Team, two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll and two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree.
In her senior season, Gilchrist scored a career-best four goals, two of them game-winners, with one assist for a career-high nine points in a team-leading 1,825 minutes. She anchored a back line that posted 13 shutouts, including four in the NCAA Tournament and both contests in the College Cup.
Gilchrist graduated from Florida State in the fall of 2024 with a bachelors degree in finance, and is currently pursuing a masters degree in business administration.
Gilchrist helped the Seminoles win their fifth national title with a 16-2-4 overall record in 2025. The NCAA title is FSU's third in the last five years and second in three. Gilchrist is now a two-time national champion, in 2023 and 2025.
