No. 3 Florida State Hosts Home Opener Thursday Night

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 3 Florida State soccer team makes its regular-season home debut against Florida Atlantic on Thursday, August 20, at 7 p.m. ET, at the Seminole Soccer Complex.
Tickets are available at Seminoles.com/Tickets or by calling the FSU Athletics Ticket Office at 850-644-1830. New in 2026, tickets will be required for all fans to every regular-season home game. Admission will continue to be free for all FSU students with their FSUID.
Thursday night is a whiteout, and fans are encouraged to wear white to cheer on the Seminoles.

The Seminoles are 2-0-0 on the season after a pair of road wins to begin the campaign last weekend. FSU is unbeaten in 35 consecutive regular-season non-conference games, a stretch that began in the middle of the 2019 non-conference season. Additionally, dating back to last year's national-title run, Florida State has won seven in a row away from home, the second-longest streak in school history, and eight consecutive games overall with a 12-game unbeaten streak, both tied for 10th-longest all-time. The team's four-game shutout streak also is tied for 10th in the school record books.
Florida State's six goals have come from different players, three of them newcomers, and four players have one assist, all first-year Seminoles. That includes senior forward Tanner Strickland, who has a goal and an assist for a team-best three points. Junior forward Wrianna Hudson, who scored the game-winner in Sunday's win, leads the team with eight shots, all on goal. Junior goalkeeper Fernanda Mayrink and sophomore goalkeeper Kate Ockene both have shutout performances, as Mayrink had three saves on Sunday and Ockene two on Thursday.
NATIONALLY-RANKED SEMINOLES
Florida State moved up one spot to No. 3 in the week one IWSOC DI Top 25 Coaches Poll, while Top Drawer Soccer has FSU No. 1. Beginning the year at No. 4, the Seminoles were in the top-10 in the preseason coaches' poll for the 20th time in the last 21 seasons.
SERIES HISTORY VS. FLORIDA ATLANTIC
The Seminoles are 4-0-0 all-time against Florida Atlantic after a 5-0 road win last season. The series began with a 7-0 victory in Tallahassee in 2003, followed by a 3-0 win in the NCAA First Round in 2005 in Gainesville, Florida. The last two matchups have been in Boca Raton, with a 2-1 win in 2006 before the 2025 clean sheet.
On September 7, 2025, Florida State led 2-0 after 99 seconds en route to a 5-0 road win. In their non-conference finale, the game ended in the 79th minute due to lightning in the area. With the season's first victory away from home, Florida State took a 1-0 lead just 44 seconds into the contest and made it 2-0 55 seconds later. Four players scored a goal and five notched an assist as 22 players appeared in the game, all for at least 26 minutes. Hudson scored two goals. Meanwhile, the defense held FAU to just one shot, as the Seminoles posted a 24-1 advantage in shots, 13-1 in shots on goal. FSU had 11 corner kicks and did not allow one.

SCOUTING THE OWLS
Florida Atlantic comes to Tallahassee with a 0-1-1 record. The Owls opened the campaign with a 1-1 draw vs. FIU on August 12 and followed it up with a 3-0 defeat to Miami on August 16.
LAST TIME OUT: ANOTHER ROAD SHUTOUT
Florida State defeated FIU 2-0 on August 16 in Miami to finish a perfect season-opening roadtrip. For the second consecutive game to begin the year, the Seminoles scored all of their goals in the second half and did not allow a goal. Hudson tallied the game's first score, the eventual game-winner, in the 56th minute. Just 62 seconds later, sophomore midfielder Nyanya Touray doubled the lead with a long strike from outside the box. Junior forward Anaiyah Robinson assisted on Hudson's goal.
The Seminoles out-shot the Panthers (0-1-1) 12-10 and had an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. The visitors had three corner kicks and did not allow one, while FSU had 14 fouls and FIU 19. Robinson led all players with five shots and added three shots on goal. Mayrink made her Seminole debut and saved all three shots she faced for her ninth career shutout. FIU's keeper made six saves.
With the win, FSU improves to 8-0-0 all-time vs. FIU, including 3-0-0 on the road. The last four games, and six of eight, have been clean sheets.
