FSU Rallies Twice in Draw to NC State

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 18 Florida State soccer team came back twice in a 2-2 tie to NC State on Friday evening at the Seminole Soccer Complex.
The Seminoles (4-1-2, 0-0-1 ACC) erased two one-goal deficits in the contest, as the unbeaten Wolfpack (7-0-2, 0-0-1) took an early 1-0 lead and went ahead 2-1 in the 58th minute. Both times FSU answered, with a goal by junior forward Wrianna Hudson in the 23rd minute and another tying score by junior midfielder Shaneil Buckley in the 65th.
Buckley also assisted on Florida State's first goal, as she notched her first goal and assist of her FSU and NCAA D-I career. Hudson tallied her team-high-tying third goal of the season and second in as many games, and it was the 27th goal of her three-year career.
Junior forward Sam Erbach and sophomore midfielder Nawreen Ahmad got assists on Buckley's goal. It is Erbach's team-best fourth assist and 10th point of 2026 and the 25th assist of her career, while it is Ahmad's first assist of the campaign and second of her career.
Florida State was out-shot 13-7, while FSU had a 5-4 edge in shots on goal. Corner kicks were 8-0 for NC State, while the visitors were called for 12 fouls to the home side's six.
Erbach had a game-high-tying three shots and had two shots on goal along with Hudson. Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Ockene made two saves as NC State's keeper stopped three shots.
The Seminoles are 19-3-5 all-time vs. NC State and 11-0-3 in Tallahassee. FSU is inbeaten in the last 23 matchups since 1999, with draws in the last two matchups.
NC State took a 1-0 lead 97 seconds into the game on a long shot from the top of the penalty arc. The next three chances for the visitors were forced wide left, all coming after freshman forward Ryder Ajeto had the Seminoles' first shot, which was high.
Hudson tied the game at 1-1 at 22:00. Erbach had the ball entering the final third on the right side of the field and passed to Buckley at the edge of the penalty area. After dribbling in and out of the side of the box, Buckley found space around her defender and sent a centering ball to Hudson just outside the goal box. Heading it in for the second consecutive game, Hudson found the back of the net with a ball that bounced once right in front of the goal line on the near side.
Erbach had a chance saved just over two minutes after FSU took the lead, and she had another chance in the 42nd minute that was high. In between opportunities, NC State had two shots that were forced off target.
With a 1-1 game at the half, the visitors held a 7-4 advantage in shots, but it was 2-1 in shots on goal to the home side. The Wolfpack had five corners.
Ockene made her first save early in the second half on a header off a corner kick, and NC State regained a 2-1 lead at 57:32.
Hudson nearly got her second two minutes later, but it was saved, and that was five minutes before FSU tied it again.
