FSU Hosts NC State in ACC Opener Friday

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 18 Florida State soccer team begins ACC play against NC State on Friday, September 11, at 7 pm. ET, at the Seminole Soccer Complex.
Tickets are available at Seminoles.com/Tickets or by calling the FSU Athletics Ticket Office at 850-644-1830. New in 2026, tickets will be required for all fans to every regular-season home game. Admission continues to be free for all FSU students with their Unconquered Pass.
Friday night Military Appreciation Presented by VyStar, and military and first responders can get discounted $4.50 tickets by using the code HEROES online here or at the ticket office on game day.

At the conclusion of non-conference play, the Seminoles are 4-1-1 on the season, 1-0-1 at home and 3-1-0 on the road. Florida State is coming off a 1-1 draw to Rice on Sunday and is 33-1-5 in regular-season non-conference games since the middle of the 2019 non-conference slate.
As the ACC schedule begins, FSU has won five conference titles, two regular season and three tournament, in head coach Brian Pensky's first four seasons in Tallahassee. Overall, the Seminoles have won 17 ACC championships, six regular season and 11 tournament. They are only team to make the ACC Championship in every year of their program's history, qualifying for the postseason event all 31 years.
Florida State has scored 13 goals on nine assists with 83 shots, 44 on frame and has allowed five goals on 59 shots for a 0.83 goals-against average and a .815 save percentage. FSU's goals have come from seven different players, four of them newcomers, and five players have at least one assist, all first-year Seminoles. That includes junior midfielder Sam Erbach who has a team-best three goals, three assists and nine points. Senior forward Tanner Strickland has scored two goals with an assist for five points. Erbach and junior forward Wrianna Hudson share the team lead of 15 shots, and Hudson paces the squad with 11 shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Ockene has two shutouts with 18 saves and a 3-1-1 record. She is the reigning ACC Goalkeeper of the Week.

Florida State is ranked No. 18 in the week four IWSOC DI Top 25 Coaches Poll, while Top Drawer Soccer has FSU No. 17.
SERIES HISTORY VS. NC STATE
Florida State is 19-3-4 all-time vs. NC State, including 11-0-2 in Tallahassee and 8-3-2 in Raleigh. The Seminole are unbeaten in the last 22 matchups since 1999, with a 19-game win streak from 2001-2023. The series began with a 3-0 loss in 1995, FSU's inaugural season, before a 4-2 upset win over the 18th-ranked Wolfpack at home in 1996. Two more road defeats followed before the unbeaten stretch commenced with a 2-2 home draw in 1999.
On September 21, 2024, a goal with 35 seconds remaining in the match helped then-No. 7 Florida State to a 1-1 draw at NC State. Hudson scored the equalizer in the 90th minute to help the Seminoles conclude a stretch of three games in eight days, all on the road. The Wolfpack took a 1-0 lead in the 81st minute. The Wolfpack are coming off a 1-1 draw at Campbell on September 6, a tie that snapped the team's seven-game win streak to open the year. Friday night's game will be NC State's first against a ranked opponent in 2026.
LAST TIME OUT: NON-CONFERENCE-CLOSING DRAW
Florida State concluded non-conference play with a 1-1 draw against Rice on September 6 at the Seminole Soccer Complex. On a hot and sun-soaked afternoon, the Seminoles scored the game's first goal in the 76th minute thanks to Hudson, while the Owls answered with the tying goal six minutes later. Ockene made eight saves, one shy of tying her career high.
Hudson scored her second goal of the season and Erbach got the assist, as it was her corner kick that was headed in. Hudson and Ebach each had two shots, and Hudson was one of three Seminoles with a shot on goal. Rice held a 13-11 edge in shots and a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams had six corner kicks. FSU was called for 12 fouls with two yellow cards and the Owls had five fouls and one yellow card.
Florida State is 2-0-1 all-time vs. Rice and 1-0-1 at home. Hudson has a goal in both home contests in the series.
