RALEIGH, N.C. – A goal with 35 seconds remaining in the match helped the No. 7 Florida State soccer team to a 1-1 draw at NC State on Sunday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Sophomore forward Wrianna Hudson scored the equalizing goal in the 90th minute to help the Seminoles (7-0-2, 3-0-1 ACC) remain unbeaten on the season and conclude a stretch of three games in eight days, all on the road. The draw came after the Wolfpack (2-6-3, 1-1-1 ACC) took a 1-0 lead in the 81st minute. It was just the second goal FSU had conceded and the first time the team trailed in 2025.
With the late goal, FSU's school-record streak of games with a goal scored reaches 64 consecutive games. Florida State extended its unbeaten streak in regulation or overtime to 19 consecutive games, fourth-best in program history, and its ACC unbeaten stretch to nine games in a row, No. 7 all-time. The team's consecutive shutout minutes reached 594:49 before allowing the goal, a total that ranks No. 4 in the record books and the best since a 683-minute string from 2014-15. The draw saw the Seminoles' ACC win streak snapped at eight consecutive games, tied for No. 3 all-time, and their consecutive shutout streak ended at four games in the ACC and five games overall, tied for No. 3 and No. 4 in program history, respectively.
On a hot and sun-filled day at Dail Soccer Field, Hudson scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season. The forward has scored seven of nine games in 2025, with today's goal coming after her four-game goal streak ended on Wednesday night. Junior forward Jordynn Dudley got the assist, her team-best sixth, as she has a point in seven games in a row.
Dudley had a game-high five shots, while she and Hudson both had a game-best-tying two shots on goal. Hudson was one of two players with three shots. Facing a compacted defensive unit, FSU out-shot NC State 21-5, and the visitors had a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal. Corner kicks were 5-2 in the Seminoles' favor. Nine yellow cards were shown in the game, five to NC State and four to Florida State.
Freshman goalkeeper Evan O'Steen, who played the first 45 minutes, stopped the only shot she faced. Fellow freshman Kate Ockene played the second half. NCSU's keeper made three saves.
Hudson had the game's first shot in the opening minute that was saved, and junior midfielder Yuna McCormack earned a good chance from just outside the 18-yard box that went over the crossbar in the sixth minute. Another shot was forced high six minutes later off a nice cross in by senior midfielder Sophia Nguyen.
Senior midfielder Enasia Colon fed a pass to Dudley in the 24th minute, but Dudley's shot was saved.
O'Steen made a stop of her own four minutes later to keep it a goalless game, and the home side sent a shot wide in the 41st minute.
With two minutes remaining in the half, sophomore forward Solai Washington went just high with a great chance.
Florida State had an 8-2 advantage in shots, and was up 2-1 in shots on goal, in the first half. Two corner kicks came in the opening 45 minutes, both earned by NC State.
The Seminoles kept the offensive pressure up in the second half with two shots within six minutes that went wide, by Dudley and Hudson. Another good chance by Dudley was forced wide in the 62nd minute.
Dudley dribbled around several defenders in the 69th minute, but her shot went just over the crossbar. Six minutes later, she forced NC State's keeper to make a great save on a shot towards the far post.
The Wolfpack took a 1-0 lead at 80:26. The goal came on a penalty kick after a foul was called inside the box.
Senior defender Heather Gilchrist had two shots off target following the goal, and sophomore defender Janet Okeke had a chance blocked with five minutes left.
The Seminoles tied it at 89:25 thanks to Hudson and Dudley. On a long throw-in by Dudley from midfield as time ticked down, Hudson received the ball and dribbled once into the corner of the 18-yard box. On her second touch, she fired a shot towards the far post, past the NC State goalkeeper who was well outside of the goal box.
That tied it at 1-1 and was the final chance for either team.
Florida State will have nearly two weeks off before its next game, an in-state matchup against Miami at the Seminole Soccer Complex on Friday, October 3. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. ET.
