TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A three-goal first half, including two goals in 42 seconds, powered the No. 6 Florida State soccer team to a 3-0 win over Miami on Friday night at the Seminole Soccer Complex.
The Seminoles (8-0-2, 4-0-1 ACC) remained unbeaten on the season with their eighth clean-sheet, multi-goal win in 10 contests. The Hurricanes (6-5-2, 0-4-1) were held to just three shots, all in the second half of a 3-0 game, as FSU scored all three of its goals within the first 29 minutes of the first half.
Returning to the pitch for the first time after 11 days off, and back home for the first time in nearly a month, Florida State improved to 21-4-0 all-time against its in-state rivals. The Seminoles have won six in a row in the series, and nine of the last 10, with a 22-2 scoring margin in the stretch that began in 2013.
Sophomore forward Solai Washington scored the game's opening goal in the 12th minute, her second of 2025, both game-winners. Freshman midfielder Nyanya Touray netted her first collegiate goal to make it 2-0 in the 29th minute, and junior forward Jordynn Dudley made it 3-0 just 42 seconds later with her fourth goal of the campaign. Dudley also had an assist to notch her second three-point game of the year.
FSU out-shot UM 22-3, including a 14-0 advantage in shots on goal. The home side earned four corner kicks and held the visitors without one. Just four fouls were called in the game, three against Miami and one for Florida State.
Dudley registered a game-high six shots and Washington had five, four on frame. Redshirt sophomore Addie Todd did not face a shot on goal. Miami's two goalkeepers, who each played a half, combined for 11 saves, five in the first half and six in the second.
Florida State extended its home unbeaten streak to 33 consecutive games, which continues to rank No. 3 in school history, and the team is now unbeaten in regulation or overtime in 20 games in a row, a stretch that is now tied for No. 3 all-time. As the team's program-record goal streak is now at 65 games, the Seminoles made it 10 consecutive ACC games unbeaten, which is now tied for sixth-longest in the record books.
The Seminoles took a 1-0 lead at 11:31 thanks to Washington. Dudley got the play started by forcing a turnover just outside the 18-yard box. The ball found Washington at the top of the penalty arc, where she dribbled into the box and towards the right side, around several defenders. Just inside the corner of the goal area and one-on-one with the keeper, Washington scored from a tight angle on a right-footed shot into the far corner of the goal.
With the forced turnover and pass to Washington, Dudley picked up her team-leading seventh assist of the year and 27th of her three-year career. Washington's goal was her eighth in her two seasons and third game-winner along with being her second of 2025.
As soon as it became 2-0 it was 3-0, as Touray scored at 28:14 followed by Dudley at 28:56.
Junior midfielder Yuna McCormack centered the ball to Touray, who dribbled quickly to the top of the penalty arc and sent a hard-struck shot towards the goal. The ball deflected off a UM defender's back on its way to going under the crossbar for the 2-0 lead.
Along with Touray's first career goal, McCormack earned her second assist of 2025 and ninth of her career.
Forty-two seconds passed before Dudley made it 3-0. As Miami attempted to clear it with a header, the ball went to Dudley just past the penalty spot, and she played it out of the air and delivered a left-footed shot that bounced once while going into the lower-left corner of the goal.
FSU had a 12-0 advantage in shots in the first half, with eight shots on target. The home side had three corners.
The Seminoles continued to apply offensive pressure in the second half, with a 10-3 edge in shots, but their six shots on target all were stopped, including several nice saves made by the Hurricane goalkeeper. Senior forward Giana Riley had three of those shots that were saved in the final 45 minutes.
A top-10 matchup is up next, as FSU travels to No. 2 Notre Dame for a nationally-televised top-10 matchup on Thursday, October 9. Kickoff in South Bend, Indiana, is at 7 p.m. ET on ACC Network.
